Part 14

Navigate Part 14 of Dragon Quest IV! Get the Hunter's Bow, uncover the Vrenor impostor, and brave the Vault of Vrenor for essential items. Your guide to success!

Alright, so you've made some serious progress! Your party automatically heads back to Taborov, so you don't need to worry about trekking there yourself. Your first stop is the Village Chief, who's chilling just outside his house. He's got some good news: the item shop is back open and has something special for Alena and her crew. Let's go see what it is!

And wow, it's a good one! The item shop is selling the [HUNTER'S BOW]. If you've got the Gold, this is a fantastic weapon to pick up for Borya. Go ahead and sell his old stick to make room for it. After that, it's a good idea to rest up at the inn and save your game at the church. When you're ready, head out the northern exit of the church, the one behind the altar. Once you're back on the world map, travel northeast. You'll find a new town waiting for you.

AN IMPOSTOR IN VRENOR

Something's definitely off in Vrenor. Everyone in town is gathered outside the inn, buzzing about seeing the Tsar's daughter. Since you're the *actual* Tsar's daughter, it's pretty clear someone's pretending to be you. But before we deal with that, let's do a quick sweep. Head into the house northeast of the inn – there's a barrel inside with an [ANTIDOTAL HERB]. Now, make your way to the western side of town and enter the house located in the graveyard.

Chat with the guy inside, and then smash all the barrels he's guarding. One of them holds [10 COINS]. Okay, now for the main event: the inn. Head inside and go upstairs. You'll find the supposed "Tsar's Daughter" hanging out. But just as you're about to question her, she gets dramatically kidnapped! Don't panic, though.

Keep your cool and grab some dusty [PLAIN CLOTHES] from the room just east of where the fake daughter was. If you're looking for a Seed of Life, there's a little box right next to this paragraph that explains a neat trick to get one. After that, find the kid hanging out east of the inn. He's found a ransom note from the kidnappers, and it says you need to head to the cave southwest of town. That's our next objective!

Before you leave Vrenor, swing by the item shop again. Grab the [HARDWOOD HEADWEAR] for Kiryl. While you're there, picking up some Chain Mails would be a smart move, though I'm not going to force you – just a strong recommendation! Equip it, then get a good night's sleep at the inn. When you're all set, make your way to the caves just southwest of town. I'd suggest being around Level 8 or higher before diving in. Let's go!

VAULT OF VRENOR

Head south at the first fork in the path to find a [CHIMAERA WING]. Continue west, and you'll find a chest containing a [SEED OF AGILITY]. Just north of that chest, you'll discover [360 COINS]. Follow the path that begins in the southwestern part of this room to find a staircase leading down. Take it.

Once you reach the bottom, move east. You'll come to a fork marked by four pillars. From here, head west to find a chest with [MAGIC WATER] inside. Now, go south from the pillars, head west across another set of stairs, and then open the chest located in the very southwestern corner of this floor. Inside, you'll find the very useful [ARMLET OF TRANSMUTATION].

Now, backtrack to the world map and return to Vrenor Town. The next important event can only happen at night, so wander around the world map until it gets dark, then enter Vrenor again.

Head to the graveyard on the western side of town. You'll find some shady characters waiting there...
