Dragon Quest VI Arkbolt shops offer Steel Broadswords for 2000 gold and Silver Cuirass for 3200 gold. Learn how to defeat Bronson and Brick and Brock.
Walkthrough
- 1Sail east as far as possible and land at the northern part of the eastern coast of the Inner Sea.
- 2Walk east and cross the small bridge to find a golden domed castle.
- 3Talk to the people at a table to the right to learn about Wayfarer's Pass to the north-west.
- 4Spend money at the armour shop: equip Ashlynn with the Silver Cuirass (3200 gold) and Magic Shield (5000 gold). If affordable, buy the Magic Shield for Nevan. Consider buying the Spiked Steel Whip (7400 gold) but not the Battle-Axe (4300 gold) as it's weaker than the Fire Claw found later.
- 5To save your game, go up the stairs in the lower left corner to find the inn.
- 6Approach the green soldier blocking the main floor's upper path; he will offer a fight.
- 7Mini-Boss: Bronson. Use Kabuff (a defensive buff) on everyone to protect from his Flame Sword. Frizzle deals about 60 HP damage, and Crack deals about half that. Amos, if changed to a beast, can deal around 60 HP damage with a vortex or claw slash. Bronson's desperate attack is dangerous, making Kabuff essential. His other attack is a Flying Knee.
- 8After defeating Bronson, you receive 310 experience points. He moves aside.
- 9Save your game again. Consider changing your party outside the building to include your best fighters and healers.
- 10Talk to the man blocking the stairs to the upper floor.
- 11Enter the kitchen and break a barrel to find a [MINI MEDAL].
- 12Go through the door in the top right small room and down the stairs to reach the back of the armour shop.
- 13Open the treasure chest for a [SLIME GOONIFORM].
- 14Return to the second floor. You can talk to the man in the room for information about Commander Brutus.
- 15Leave the floor via the south door to the outer battlements. Walk right. Do not go all the way down the long path, as it leads to jail cells you cannot open.
- 16Enter the hole in the top right corner of the castle to find a room with a locked red door containing inaccessible treasure.
- 17Descend the hole in this room into a bedroom with bookshelves. The left bookshelf has a book titled "V is for Victory!" with combat advice: protect allies without giving everything you've got.
- 18Leave by the door to be outside the castle walls. Walk left (without returning to the world map) to find an itinerant salesman (the item shop).
- 19Go back inside and up to the open floor, then head left. Follow the long path to find another hole leading to the soldiers' training room.
- 20Break the pot here to find another [MINI MEDAL]. Read the posters on the wall.
- 21Go down the hole in the top left corner to find the barracks with comments about a swordsman. Continue to the lower floor to find a soldier, a wall poster, and the door to the field.
- 22When ready, approach the two guards on the second floor; they will challenge you to a battle before granting access to the king.
- 23Mini-Boss: Brick and Brock. They will use Kasap (a stat-lowering spell). Start with Kabuff and attempt Sap on each, though it may not work. Carver's Focus Strength skill followed by a Fire Claw can deal over 150 HP damage. Double Up is also effective.
