Alright, let's get started on your Dragon Quest VI adventure! First things first, you'll need to create a new adventure log. Go ahead and give your hero a name – you've got up to 8 letters, numbers, or characters to play with. It's always a thrill starting a new DQ game, right?

The game kicks off pretty quickly with a simple question. Answer it however you like; it won't really impact anything major. Once you gain control of your character, head north. You'll be following your companions right to the edge of a cliff. Feel free to put out the campfire if you want, but it's not required. At this point, you can't access any menus, and there's no one else to chat with yet. Go ahead and talk to both of your companions to get a bit more info on what's happening. You only really *need* to talk to the female companion to move things along to the next scene.

Next, you'll find yourself inside a castle. You can chat with them again if you'd like, but it's not mandatory. When you're ready, leave the room through the open door in the top wall. The other door is locked, so no going that way. Your companions will catch up with you, and you can now use the party chat option by pressing B, though they won't reveal anything new at this stage.

Follow the corridor and head through another open doorway. You'll enter a room with a red carpet. There are locked doors in the lower right and left corners, and nothing to find here, so just make your way up the stairs to the next floor. Walk down the hallway, and you'll be stopped. You'll be asked another question – answer it as you see fit. It's not a big decision, so don't stress over it! Enter the door when you're ready.

After all that, you'll find yourself back at the campfire... but only if you're playing a pirated version of the game. :p
