New to Fantasy Life? Get started right with our top 5 essential tips! Learn about changing Lives, managing inventory, fast travel, talking to NPCs, and multiplayer.
Hey there! So you've just booted up Fantasy Life and are wondering where to begin? Don't worry, I've got your back. This game is huge and can feel a little overwhelming at first, but with a few pointers, you'll be exploring Reveria like a pro in no time. Here are my top 5 tips to get you started off on the right foot!
1. Try a New Life!
Seriously, don't get stuck in one Life role for too long. While you can probably breeze through the main story with just one, you're missing out on so much of what makes Fantasy Life special. There are twelve Lives in total, and they all connect in cool ways. For example, as a Miner, you'll gather the best ores, which are perfect for a Blacksmith to craft awesome gear. But to get to those tougher monsters guarding those rare ores, you'll need to be a Paladin or Mercenary. It's all about synergy! The best time to switch is whenever you feel like it, have some downtime, or if you're hitting a wall with your current Life. Miner, Woodcutter, and Angler are great starting points for gathering materials.
2. Don't Sell Anything (Almost)!
I know it's tempting to offload items you don't think you need for a quick buck, but trust me, hold onto most of it. You never know when a Request will pop up asking for that exact item, or when you'll need it for crafting in another Life. Take Truffles, for instance – you get a few near the end of the story, and you'll need them for Cook Challenges. They're super rare drops otherwise! Don't stress too much about inventory space either; make sure to grab those Item Bag and Storage space Bliss Bonuses as soon as you can. The only real exception is equipment you've outgrown or items you can easily re-gather or re-craft.
3. Make Use of Quick Travel
Reveria is a big place, and walking everywhere will eat up a ton of your time. Always look for opportunities to use the Quick Travel system. You can instantly warp to your home, your Life Master's location, or the Castele Guild Office using your Map. Super handy for turning in Challenges or switching Lives! Plus, the Guide Paladins scattered around Castele and the East Grassy Plains can whisk you away to various spots. The one near Mt. Snowpeak can take you to the summit once you've unlocked it, and another near the Elderwood entrance will escort you further in. If you've got the Gold to spare, those holiday homes can also be used as Quick Travel destinations.
4. Chat to Your Life Colleagues
Every Life has its own set of friendly NPCs, your 'colleagues,' who are always ready to share some wisdom. You'll spot them by the Life icon next to their name (like a shield for Paladins). When they have something important to say, a '?' thought bubble will appear above their head. They usually have two things to tell you initially, and then one more for each rank you achieve in that Life. These chats can lead to new Challenges, recipes for crafting, or even presents! Some colleagues might even let you invite them to your party once you reach a certain rank. Keep chatting with them until that '?' disappears! And don't forget your Life Master counts as a colleague too – just select the 'Chat' option when talking to them.
5. Phone a Friend (or the Internet!)
Stuck on a tough monster or can't find a rare material? Don't give up hope! Fantasy Life has a great Multiplayer mode, so you can team up with friends locally or online. No friends playing? No problem! The internet is your best friend here. Hop onto online communities for Fantasy Life or general gaming forums – chances are, someone can help you out. Teaming up is awesome for taking down tough enemies or snagging those elusive items. Plus, it's a fantastic way for players with different Lives to help each other out. And honestly, multiplayer is just plain fun!
