Payback

Your guide to the Payback mission in Far Cry 3. Learn how to infiltrate Vaas' island, survive the dream sequence, and confront Vaas.

Alright, so you've made it this far, and now it's time for some serious payback. This is the mission where Jason finally goes after Vaas to avenge his friends and the Rakyat. It's a big one, so let's get you through it.

Synopsis

After getting closer with Citra, she tells Jason it's time to take down Vaas. You'll head over to Vaas' island, where you'll find out the pirates are throwing a party, ironically celebrating your supposed death. Your first big task is to breach The Compound. How you do it is up to you, but you'll need to get inside.

Once inside, Vaas will appear on a bunch of TVs, letting you know he's aware you're still alive. Then, he sets the place on fire, and you'll have to escape. You'll find yourself on the roof, with a view of the whole compound. Prepare yourself, because you'll need to fight through waves of pirates before you can get to the building where Vaas is hiding.

After challenging Vaas, you'll get ambushed and stabbed. This leads into a wild dream sequence. You'll be walking down a path made of glowing blue TVs, and eventually, you'll find Vaas. He'll talk about Citra making you a warrior, and how you're both 'so fucked.' You'll have a pistol, and Vaas will tell you to shoot him. If you don't shoot right away, he'll move the gun to his chest, and you'll shoot him anyway. Then, another dream sequence kicks in where you'll be fighting off Vaas clones with a Vector .45. Finally, you'll confront Vaas again, this time with a knife. After a struggle, you'll stab him multiple times, and he'll fall. You'll both end up on the ground, and Vaas' eyes will lock with yours before you pass out.

When you wake up, you'll be back at Citra's Temple. Citra will tell you that Vaas is dead and that you're now planning your next move against Hoyt.
