A Dish Served Cold

Follow Jess to hunt down and eliminate The Cook in Far Cry 5's 'A Dish Served Cold' mission. Liberate hostages and take down cultists with our step-by-step guide.

Alright, so after you've liberated that lumber mill, Jess will be waiting for you. She's got a lead on this guy called 'The Cook' and wants your help taking him down. You'll start by following her along a trail, and she'll fill you in on what's been going on in the region. Keep following her, and you'll soon run into three cultists hanging out near a camp. Jess likes to get a head start, so she'll open fire before you even get a chance, so jump in and help her take them down quickly. Grab any loot they drop, and then keep following Jess until you reach your first vantage point.

Liberate the hostages at the first camp [3]

From this vantage point, you can use your binoculars to get a good look at the area and tag all the enemies. The key here is to stick to the shadows as much as possible. If you can keep at least one hostage alive, you'll get bonus RP, but you'll miss out on it for any that die. Start by taking out the cultist in the ditch, and then stash his body in the pipe before heading through it and up the other side. Now, you'll want to wait for one of the patrols to head back towards the shack and take him out. You'll need to be quick because there's another cultist with his back to you at the far end. After that, sneak around the cage to take out the cultist who's hassling the hostage. A pickup truck will arrive with one more cultist, so take out the last two while they're separated and then you can free the hostages. Make sure to stash the body in the pipe, and take out the cultist while he’s distracted.

Liberate hostages at the second camp [3]

Once the dust settles, return to following Jess. She'll lead you up to the next vantage point where more hostages are being held. This camp has five cultists, and more importantly, a Marksman chilling at the back. Your priority should be to sneak around and take him out first. From that position, you can then quietly move to the right and take out the cultist near the cages. That leaves you with the last three. One patrols near the cages, making for an easy takedown. The other two split off to either side of the area, giving you a chance to take them down when they're alone and liberate the hostages. After that, just follow Jess again until you reach the third and final vantage point.

Kill the Cook

Unfortunately, you're a bit too late to save any hostages this time, but you have found the Cook. Get your binoculars out and survey the area. Jess will make her move and start firing when she has a clear shot, so it's actually better to take aim from a distance. Using an explosive on the Cook will make things a lot easier, so try to land a good shot. Pick off the other cultists from range. If any get too close, switch to an assault rifle or something similar and finish them off. Once all the cultists are down, talk to Jess to wrap up the mission and add her to your crew.
