Luckily, crafting a Gas Mask is totally doable, and I'll walk you through exactly what you need and how to get it. Think of this as your first step to becoming a true backyard survivor!

How to Unlock the Recipe:

Before you can even think about crafting, you need the recipe. Head over to the Resource Analyzer and analyze either a Stinkbug Part, a Weevil Nose, or even a Rotten Gas Mask if you happen to have one lying around. Once analyzed, the recipe is yours!

How to Get the Goods:

• Stinkbug Parts: These nasty critters are found hanging out near the Haze and other toxic spots, mostly in the southwest part of the map. The trick here is getting the parts without getting gassed yourself. Your best bet is to use a bow and keep your distance. Use the environment – lure them into getting stuck on rocks or between grass blades. It's a bit of a dance, but totally doable! Remember, those clouds they make will wreck your health if you're caught in them without protection.
• Gnat Fuzz: Gnats are those little buzzing guys you see flying around water sources. There's a good cluster of them near the water to the east of the map. They're pretty weak, so you can take them out with ranged weapons easily. If you're feeling brave, you can try to get above them and bonk them with a melee weapon, but watch out for their annoying swarm!
• Weevil Nose: If you've been playing for any amount of time, you probably have a stash of these already. Weevils are super common, chill little dudes that wander around. They're also a decent food source, so you've likely killed a bunch already. Just grab a nose from one you've defeated. It feels a bit mean, I know, but hey, survival!
• Crude Rope: This one's crafted by hand. You'll need x3 Plant Fiber for each Crude Rope. Plant Fibers are those small, low-lying plants you see scattered everywhere on the ground. Important: You need to analyze Plant Fiber at the Resource Analyzer first to unlock the Crude Rope crafting recipe. So, gather up a bunch of fibers, analyze them, and then craft your ropes!

Tips for Repairing:

Just a heads-up, the Gas Mask isn't indestructible. If you find yourself needing to repair it often (which you will if you're spending a lot of time in the Haze or fighting Stinkbugs), you'll need x2 Gnat Fuzz and x1 Crude Rope per repair. Keep a little stash of these handy!
