THE TANK HANGER
Back in the Tank Hanger, you can proceed to the gate Meryl opened, but first, collect necessary items. From the elevator, go right, past the gate, and enter the door on the right wall. Kill the sleeping guard and take the SOCOM Suppressor (silencer) from the box behind him. Return to the main hanger area.
Proceed right, avoiding guards, and test your silenced SOCOM. Take the stairs to the second floor. Avoid the camera and enter the door on the right wall. Take BOX A from this room. Cross the catwalk towards the thermal goggles room, but continue north past that door. Avoid the camera and enter the adjacent Level 2 door. Kill the guard inside and take the Mine Detector. Return to the main hanger floor and enter the unlocked door.
Inside, Meryl warns of laser beams that will gas the area if touched. Equip the Thermal Goggles to see the wires and carefully dodge them. If you don't have the goggles, equip cigarettes from Snake's inventory; their smoke will reveal the lasers, but will slowly decrease Snake's health.
Reach the north end of the room and use the card key to exit the Tank Hanger.
