Learn how to unlock and access the Cerim Crucible in No Rest for the Wicked. Follow our guide to complete the Servant of God quest and prepare for this challenging endgame trial.

To unlock the Cerim Crucible in No Rest for the Wicked, you must first complete the main quest, Servant of God. After finishing the quest, return to Sacrament and find Roan, who is located near the town crier, south of Danos. Roan has an old tome that explains a strange chamber under the cemetery. He will ask you to take this tome to Elsa, who is in the old masonry shop in the cemetery area, located in the northwest of Sacrament.

Once you reach the cemetery and enter the masonry shop, follow the path until you find Elsa near an altar. She will explain that the tome indicates the altar requires the blood of a Cerim, and since you are one, you must make an offering. Interact with the altar to open the doors.

Deeper inside the chamber, follow Elsa down the stairs to find an ominous device. Behind it, encircled by unlit torches, is a Whisper. Interact with the Whisper, and a door to the west will open, revealing another altar. Speak to Elsa again; she will reveal that this place was an ancient training ground for Cerims, a gauntlet stitched together from different times, places, and dreams. To activate it, you need Fallen Embers. If you have one, use it on the altar. If not, you'll need to farm them.

After using a Fallen Ember on the altar, the torches around the central device will light up, indicating the trial is ready. Stand in the center of the device to be transported to the trial.

The Cerim Crucible trials consist of several small, randomized areas filled with difficult enemies that must be defeated to advance. After about six or seven floors, you will face a boss called the Echo Knight, currently the most challenging enemy in the game. While the floors are randomized, the chests will always appear in the same locations. Enemies often attack in groups, and some may be new types you haven't encountered before.

The Crucible is a good place for grinding as enemies yield significant experience points and can drop higher-tier gear and resources. However, each attempt costs one Fallen Ember. While there is currently only one trial available in early access, Moon Studios plans to add more as development progresses.

Recommendation: It is advised to be around level 20-30 to complete the trial due to the Echo Knight's difficulty.
