Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for the "Blow the Man Down" quest in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Includes Meryel the Mad, Fort Deadlight, and Serafen's companion quest.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Head west from Neketaka to an uninhabited island.
  2. 2
Go north to Meryel's camp. Defeat Meryel, her Revenants, and Rusted Copper Construct. Loot the Stone of Power, Fine Rod, and Fine Padded Armor from Meryel.
  3. 3
Find supplies in the Abandoned Village east of Meryel's Camp.
  4. 4
Return to your ship and sail northwest towards Fort Deadlight.
  5. 5
East of Fort Deadlight, you'll be attacked by _The Whirlwind_ under Well-Weathered Cormio. Choose to board them. Defeat Cormio (Level 5 Rogue) and his crew to obtain a Triumph and Príncipi Colors.
  6. 6
Arrive at Fort Deadlight. Hoist a Príncipi flag to enter unmolested.
  7. 7
Inside the fort, adopt the dog Hati near the entrance.
  8. 8
Find merchant No-Nut Ned and check his wares, including the Bloody Links armor (likely unaffordable).
  9. 9
To reach the eastern ramparts, guarded by Unlucky Ancret:
  10. 10
Return to the entrance and interact with the cargo crane.
  11. 11
Have a character with a missile weapon shoot the rope (requires Sleight of Hand 3) to drop the cargo, drawing Ancret away.
  12. 12
Use stealth to avoid guards on the ramparts. Find Cinder Bombs in a barrel near a crane.
  13. 13
Locate a Level 2 chest containing God-Killer's Rum (quest item).
  14. 14
Sneak past guards to a parapet to find the cat Ludde.
  15. 15
Return to the Eastern Courtyard. As you head towards the stairs to the Court, Serafen will interrupt you, initiating his companion quest, A Sorcerer and a Gentleman, if you agree to help find Remaro.
  16. 16
Enter the Court and speak with Syri near the harpsichord. She doesn't know Remaro's location but knows where he stayed. You can also ask about Benweth.
  17. 17
Find the Orlan pirate Mirke. Ask about Benweth; she reveals he's in Aeldys's quarters and likes parties. She suggests god-killer's rum to start a ruckus.
  18. 18
Go to the Fort Deadlight Dungeon:
  19. 19
As guards leave for festivities, use the opportunity to explore.
  20. 20
Turn right, go down, and head west along the bottom passageway to find a hidden lever opening a secret door to the Armory.
  21. 21
Inside the Armory, find a Level 2 chest with Fine Leather Armor and an Arquebus.
  22. 22
Return to the storeroom near the entrance and find a Level 3 chest with a Fine Stiletto.
  23. 23
Go through the kitchen and speak to Cookie Maina. Ask for a hogshead of stew.
  24. 24
Before returning to the court, sneak east from the kitchen to find a chest with Fine armor and Gauntlets of Reliability.
  25. 25
Use the stairs in the kitchen to emerge behind the locked door in the Court. Remaro's former room is on the right.
  26. 26
In Remaro's room, Serafen finds a letter indicating Remaro met Udyne at the Luminous Bathhouse in Neketaka.
  27. 27
Continue to the Shrine and search the junk on the dais for the Entonia Signet Ring and gems.
  28. 28
Return to the Court, where the revelry is now in full swing.
  29. 29
Inspect the harpsichord and plant a bomb (requires a Cinder Bomb, available from No-Nut Ned or found around the fort).
  30. 30
Speak to Mirke and give her the special stew. Benweth will then appear.
Tips
  • It's possible to complete this quest without combat, though Benweth wears valuable armor.
  • Ensure you have a Cinder Bomb to plant in the harpsichord.
  • Completing the objectives related to Benweth and Remaro will progress Serafen's companion quest and yield experience. Specific loot depends on combat choices and exploration.
