Discover how to find and catch the Fire-type Pokémon Fennekin in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including its location in Wild Zone 18 and during a side mission.
Alright, so you're looking to snag yourself a Fennekin in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? Great choice! This little fire-starter can be found in a couple of ways, but one of the most straightforward is through a side mission. Let's get you sorted!
Side Mission 008: Get Well, Fennekin
First things first, once you start unlocking side missions, make your way to the center of Lumiose City, near Prism Tower. From there, head a bit north-west. You'll find a woman with an injured Fennekin among some buildings. This kicks off the mission!
Your task is to find a herbalist. You'll find them chilling outside Café Classe, just south of Prism Tower. They'll point you towards Wild Zone 5, where you need to find a Revitalizing Twig. Now, here's a crucial tip: don't go directly to Wild Zone 5. Instead, head a little north-west from the herbalist. Look for a small block of buildings with stairs inside on the north side. You can enter from the west. You'll encounter some purple sludge that you can clear with Water-type moves.
Keep heading north from there, and you'll find a tunnel that leads to the eastern part of Wild Zone 5. Keep an eye out for a wild Ariados on your way. Once you emerge, you'll face a bunch of Venipede and a high-level alpha Whirlipede. Your best bet here is to just run around and inspect the red glowing spots until you find the Revitalizing Twig. Once you've got it, race back to the Fennekin, give it the twig, and you'll complete the mission and catch your very own Fennekin!
Wild Zone 18: Rooftop Fennekin
After you've completed Main Mission 30, two new areas, Wild Zone 18 and 19, will become available. Fennekin also hangs out on the rooftops in Wild Zone 18. To get there, find the scaffolding near one of the south exits and climb it. Just be careful of the alpha Lopunny you might encounter.
Fennekin, much like Froakie, is pretty skittish and might run away when you get close. Don't worry if it does! Fennekin respawns after about a minute. You can try hiding behind a chimney and waiting for a new one to appear, then attempt to catch it with back strikes. Using Quick Balls can definitely give you an edge here.
Mega Delphox Note
Just a heads-up, while Fennekin's final evolution, Delphox, can Mega Evolve in this game, you won't be able to get the Delphoxite mega stone right away. It'll be a reward from online Ranked Battles, specifically in Season 2, which is set to start sometime after November 5th, 2025.
