How to Catch Volcanion

Alright, so you're looking to snag Volcanion in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? Awesome! First things first, you'll need to have finished the postgame DLC mission called “The Greatest Gift.” Once that's done, it's time to head back to the research lab.

Head up to the 3rd floor of the Pokémon Research Lab. Keep an eye out for Mable – she's the one who'll give you Side Mission 194, titled “Volcanion Unleashed.” Your objective here is pretty straightforward: you'll be tossed into a super dark basement with a Level 80 Volcanion. Your job is to catch it!

Volcanion's got a pretty unique Fire and Water typing, which makes it stand out. Honestly, compared to some of the tougher challenges you might have faced earlier, it's not *too* bad. We found that using a Pokémon like Primal Kyogre was super effective. Towards the end of the battle, don't be afraid to spam moves like Ice Beam. While it only does 0.25x damage, it has a great chance to inflict Freeze. Getting that Freeze status on Volcanion significantly boosts your catch rate, making it much easier to nab.

Once you've successfully caught Volcanion, that side mission will wrap up. Easy peasy!
