Learn the best strategies for defeating Robotnik and navigating the Prison Egg in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Get tips for playing as Sonic and Tails to win every boss fight!

Alright, let's talk about tackling Robotnik and some of the tricky bits in this zone. It's not too bad once you know what to do, so don't stress!

Boss Battle Strategy: Robotnik

When you first go left, you'll see Robotnik descending. Try to land a few hits right away – it'll make the rest of the fight a lot easier. After that, he'll usually flee to the skies.

If you're playing as Sonic & Tails or Sonic Alone: Tails will swoop in and grab Sonic, and you'll both chase after Robotnik. Just focus on attacking Robotnik's head while keeping an eye out for his drill and thruster attacks. If you happen to fall, don't worry – Tails will catch you. Just be careful not to get hit, or you'll likely lose all your Rings!

If you're playing as Tails Alone: You'll be chasing Robotnik on your own. Your main move here is using your twirling tails to hit him. The best time to strike is when Robotnik moves all the way across the screen. It's pretty tough to land a hit any other time because he zips around unpredictably. Wait for him to repeat his attack pattern, then go for it. Like with Sonic, if you get hit, you'll probably lose your Rings, so timing is key!

Opening the Prison Egg

Later on, a Prison Egg will descend from above, kind of like in Angel Island Zone. This one can be a little fiddly to open. You need to use Tails' twirling tails to hit the plunger on the Prison Egg. Once you manage that, Tails will carry Sonic over to Carnival Night Zone.
