    Travel to your evil biome and use the Pwnhammer to break Demon/Crimson Altars. The first altar broken yields Hardmode Tier 1 ores (Cobalt/Palladium), the second yields Tier 2 (Mythril/Orichalcum), and the third yields Tier 3 (Adamantite/Titanium).

    You can break up to two more sets of altars (for a total of 9 altars broken) to spawn additional ore veins, though the amount will be greatly diminished. This makes finding the Hardmode ores easier.

    Upgrade your pickaxe first, then your anvil, then your forge.

    Mine 45 Tier 1 ore to craft your pickaxe.

    Mine 100 Tier 2 ore for your pickaxe and a Mythril/Orichalcum Anvil.

    Mine 115 Tier 3 ore for your pickaxe and an Adamantite/Titanium Forge. A good place to find this ore is on the ceiling bits in the Underworld.
