Event: Blood Moon

Learn how to trigger and survive the Blood Moon event in Terraria. Discover new enemies like Blood Zombies and Dripplers, and valuable items like the Money Trough and Sharktooth Necklace.

The Blood Moon is an event that can occur every night with an 11% chance, provided the player has at least 120 HP. It significantly increases enemy spawns, introduces new enemies, and can be manually triggered using a Bloody Tear. During a Blood Moon, enemies can open doors, and fishing enemies are much more dangerous.

Triggering Conditions:

• Player must have 120+ HP.
• Can occur naturally every night (approx. 11% chance).
• Can be manually summoned using a Bloody Tear.

How to Summon:

Use a Bloody Tear. This item has a 0.5% chance to drop from all Blood Moon enemies, including those encountered while fishing. It has an enhanced 11.11% chance to drop from the Groom & Bride special enemies and the Dreadnautilus (fishing boss).

New Enemies:

• Blood Zombie: Spawns during the event. Runs faster as it gets closer to the player and can open doors.
• Drippler: Spawns during the event. Slow-moving but has a substantial amount of health.
• Bride & Groom: Special, very tanky zombie enemies that can spawn rarely. They drop vanity items when killed.

Event Effects:

• Increased enemy spawn rate and spawn limit.
• Enemies spawn near NPCs (normally only in Expert Mode).
• Enemies can open doors (can be prevented by placing a block in front of or behind a door).
• Fishing enemies are significantly more powerful and out of reach for early-game players.

Noteworthy Items:

• Money Trough (0.5% drop from Blood Zombie/Drippler): Summons a flying piggy bank for quick access to your stored money.
• Sharktooth Necklace (0.67% drop from Blood Zombie/Drippler): Ignores 5 points of enemy defense.
• Vampire Frog Staff (4.17% drop from Zombie Merman/Wandering Eye Fish via fishing): A summoner weapon that summons vampire frogs. It is an early-game summoning weapon.
