On the north-west coast, facing south, locate six large cannibal fishing huts. The easternmost hut has an Upgraded Spear leaning against its front-left support strut. Cases can be found on the beach at the west end.

To find CACHE 8, go to the westernmost fishing hut and climb the cliff immediately behind it. Follow the grassy slope up to a second, higher cliff. Turn left at the top and look at the cliff edge for the dynamite hole.

CACHE 4 is located on the beach due east of the fishing huts on the north-west shore. Look near the easternmost hut in the sand, next to a whale carcass.

Locate two streams pouring down from north to south on your Map (minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen)). Follow them north to where they fork at the top of a waterfall. Here you will find a small cannibal village with supplies, including a set of clothes and Hairspray. Aloe is abundant by the water.

At the pond in the north-west, situated at the top of a snowy hill (easily visible on the Map), find CACHE 7. Look for a rise next to the pond's south-east edge, around the four o'clock position, among trees.

If you have collected all eight parts of the Old Gun (Flintlock Pistol) in the order listed, you will now possess it. You will also have found Old Gun ammo in caches and other locations. The Flintlock Pistol is a high damage, instant-hit, ranged weapon, but has poor range and a slow reload, and cannot be upgraded, making it mostly a novelty.

On the north shores of a large lake in the centre-north of the map, just above the Sinkhole, find a cannibal fishing village with supplies in cases. One hut contains an Upgraded Spear and red paint. Be aware of alligators, which can be skinned for four lizard skins each.

In the extreme north, above the central river, find an orange tent which serves as a save point and rest area.

The plane's cockpit is located in the mountains, roughly halfway across the north-east half of the map, at the very top of the cliffs. Here you can find the FLARE GUN, a copy of 'DEFINITELY REAL' WEEKLY, and a set of clothes. The Flare Gun is recommended against the final boss. Fuel cans and arrows are among the trees to the north. This is also a good spot to use a sled if you have a turtle shell. Consider building a Glider here.

North-west of the plane's cockpit, at the northernmost point of the map, find a corner with frozen mountaineers beside a frozen tent (which can be used to rest and save). Minor supplies are also present.

To explore CHASM CAVE (DESTINATION 9), use Entrance 1, which is due north of the Waterfall Cave Entrance 1 (N), across a rocky bridge. It is marked by a cave icon on the Map and is visible on a grassy hill behind trees. The Chasm Cave can also be reached via the Sinkhole by dropping to the bottom and opening the Obsidian Doors from behind.

Notable items in the Chasm Cave include the Armsby Photograph, 'Chasm Cave Entrance' Photograph, Modern Bow, Old Photo 4, Old Photo 5, Pedometer, Restraining Order, 'She's Not Dead, She Is Sleeping' Note, 'Side Effects' Video Tape, Timmy's Toy (2), and Torch.

The Chasm Cave contains no essential items. It is primarily for collecting lore. Preparation for the Chasm Cave, Sinkhole Cave, and Laboratory (which prepares you for the final boss fight) is recommended.

For the final boss fight, spears, flares (and the Flare Gun), arrows, and throwables are recommended. Upgrade them where possible, such as by crafting Incendiary Spears and Incendiary Arrows. Incendiary Spears cannot be recovered after use.

Upgrade your Rusty Axe to full damage using teeth and sap.

The Rebreather is essential for accessing the Sinkhole Cave and is useful elsewhere. Bring air canisters.

The Climbing Axe is helpful for the Chasm Cave.

Having more Torches is beneficial. Consider attaching your Torch to a weapon before collecting the one in the Chasm Cave.
