Guide to completing The Forest, including finding the Artifact, choosing an ending, and using the Gold Keycard on the Yacht.

Walkthrough

    After Megan falls, kill any remaining babies in the arena. Equip a point of armor immediately.

    Take Megan's body to the Resurrection Chamber.
  3. 3
    Collect the GOLD KEYCARD from in front of the Chamber.
  4. 4
    Use the GOLD KEYCARD on the locked DOOR to your right, leading to the Second Artifact.
  5. 5
    Climb the rocks on the right of this hallway, squeeze through the gap, and follow the path past a climbing wall, a Rebreather tunnel, and another set of OBSIDIAN DOORS.

    Run to the far side of the huge cave to the exit.

    Follow the linear path through the Lab to an ELEVATOR and ride it up to the Observation Level.

    At the Observation Level, you can choose how to end the game:
    • Activate the device: Release a shockwave from the Artifact above, bringing down a plane with three live specimens. Watch to see if Timmy survives.

    Shut down the device: Use the EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN console to give up Timmy forever and continue playing.

    If you chose to shut down the device, ride the other ELEVATOR down to the bottom.

    Follow the linear path (swim up the water, do not treat it as a Rebreather tunnel).

    In the junction cave, move forward past ropes leading down on the right.

    Look for minor supplies under a rock on the left.

    Follow the path to the dynamite crates.

    Blow up the rubble with the dynamite and squeeze through the crack which leads outside, just north of the plane cockpit.

    Once Timmy's Photo has been burned, build a Glider up at the plane cockpit.

    Take the Gold Keycard to the Yacht and use it on the LOCKED DOOR.

    On the Yacht, use the Keycard to access MEGAN'S ROOM.

    Find the ARTIFACT KEY in MEGAN'S ROOM.

    Take the ARTIFACT KEY back to the cave north of the plane cockpit.

    Climb down the ropes to find an excavation site.

    Use the ARTIFACT KEY on the PEDESTAL to open the OBSIDIAN DOORS.

    Find the ARTIFACT beyond the OBSIDIAN DOORS.
Tips
  • If you die and leave Megan's body on the floor, she does not respawn. You will have to make it back to her from the Hanging Cave.
  • The blue Artifact acts as a beacon that causes cannibals to avoid the area and become non-aggressive. Planting it at your base and keeping it spinning will make them leave the base alone.
  • The red Artifact has the reverse effect: cannibals will flock to it and become extremely aggressive, with increased numbers. This can be used to farm enemies for materials by triggering the red color, then climbing to a high vantage point.
