Learn how to obtain the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Guide covers navigating the Lost Woods, Sacred Grove, and Hyrule Castle Tower.
Walkthrough
- 1From the Tower of Hera, drop down to the Warp Tile. Travel west to the tall ladder, but instead of climbing down, drop off the ledge. Enter the cave marked as the path back to Kakariko Village.
- 2Navigate the dark cave, avoiding Keese and pits. In the next room, hug the northwestern wall to find the south exit.
- 3You'll emerge above the entrance to the Mountain Cave. Hop off the ledge and head west into the Lost Woods.
- 4In the Lost Woods, be wary of Crows, Hoarders, and thieves who can steal items. Your goal is the northwest corner. Ignore any fake Master Swords. Find the hollow log leading deeper into the forest.
- 5Enter the log to reach the Sacred Grove. Head north to find the Master Sword pedestal. Read the inscription with the Book of Mudora if desired, then step up from the north to claim the Master Sword.
- 6With the Master Sword, the fog clears, and Sahasrahla will congratulate you. Upon exiting the Sacred Grove, Princess Zelda will telepathically inform you she's been captured again and taken to Hyrule Castle Tower.
- 7Return to Hyrule Castle. From 1F, go to the castle roof via the upper level and south exits.
- 8Head to the north-central part of the roof and find the electrically charged barrier. Strike it with the Master Sword to dispel it and enter the tower.
