Discover the locations of every treasure chest in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, including unique items, Rupees, and Pieces of Heart. Your ultimate guide!
Hey there! So, you're looking to track down all those shiny treasure chests scattered across Hyrule? Smart move! They're packed with goodies, from essential items to those super-rare Pieces of Heart. I've put together a list of where to find every single one, except for the ones in the Treasure Chest Games because those just keep coming back. Everything else is a one-and-done deal, so let's make sure you don't miss a single one!
There's one chest in particular that's a bit tricky. It's in the Dark World's gossip shop (the one that's burned down where the Smithery would be in the Light World). You'll need to grab that locked chest and carry it all the way to the Light World. Find the old thief guy near the Desert of Mystery entrance and agree to help him out – he'll open it for you, and inside is one of the four magical Bottles! All the other chests are just chilling in their spots, waiting for you.
We've got a lot to cover, so here are some quick links to jump right to what you need:

- Chest #1: Lamp / Blue Rupee
Right at the start, when you wake up in Link's house, there's a chest with the Lamp. Keep in mind, this is one of three places you can find it. If you've already snagged the Lamp elsewhere, this chest will just have a Blue Rupee.
- Chest #2: Lamp / Blue Rupee
After your uncle gives you your first sword and shield, head into the secret passage under Hyrule Castle. Go one room south, then head to the east side of that room. You'll find a chest here that holds the Lamp, or a Blue Rupee if you already have it.
- Chest #3: Bombs
In Kakariko Village, make your way to the northwest corner. You'll see a ledge above a cave; hop down into it. The chest right in front of you contains Bombs. Remember, you get a set of three with each chest.
- Chest #4-6: Red Rupee (x3)
Still in that Kakariko Village cave, look towards the north wall. There are three more chests there, each holding a Red Rupee.
- Chest #7: Piece of Heart
In the same Kakariko Village cave, use one of your new Bombs on the cracked wall. Go through the opening, and at the end of the short corridor, you'll find a chest with a Piece of Heart!
- Chest #8-11: Red Rupee (x4)
Head to the building with the grassy roof in the northern part of Kakariko Village. Go inside and down to the basement. You'll find four chests here, but they're blocked by a block puzzle. Here's how to get them all in one go: Push the eastern of the two northern blocks south. Then, push the block next to it west. Find the block directly south of you and push it farther south. Now, go to the other side of the chest you're next to and push the block on the other side south. Finally, for the block right in front of the chest itself, you can push it either east or west. This should give you access to three chests. For the last one, the northeast chest, push the block diagonally from it north, then push the block in front of that chest west. Don't worry if you mess up; you can always leave the room and come back to reset the puzzle.
- Chest #12: Piece of Heart
In that same grassy building in Kakariko Village, head back to the basement with the block puzzle. Look for a cracked wall on the north side. Bomb it open, and you'll find another chest containing a Heart Piece.
- Chest #13: 10 Arrows
Near the center of Kakariko Village, there's a lady sweeping outside her house. Go inside (careful of the Cuccos!) and bomb the east wall. Go through the opening into a short barrel maze. At the end, you'll find a chest with 10 Arrows.
- Chest #14: Bottle
You can find this chest in the Kakariko Village tavern, but you have to enter through the back door on the north side – a rare entrance! Inside, you'll get one of the four essential Bottles.
- Chest #15-17: 50 Rupees, Bombs, 50 Rupees
Head to Sahasrahla's dwelling on the Eastern Palace grounds. Bomb the cracked wall in his room to reveal these three chests. You'll get 100 Rupees total and 3 Bombs.
- Chest #18: Piece of Heart
West of the Sanctuary, there's a bluff with a pile of rocks. Use the Pegasus Boots to dash into them and break them. This reveals a secret grotto. Go inside the cave; the chest there holds another Heart Piece.
- Chest #19: Bombs
In the southern part of the Great Swamp, you'll find an old place called the Swamp Ruins. Go inside; there are blocks blocking the chest. Push either of the outer two blocks north, then push the block directly in front of the chest out of the way to grab the Bombs.
- Chest #20-23: Bombs, Red Rupee, Red Rupee, 10 Arrows
Between the Great Swamp and Lake Hylia, in a somewhat dry area, look for...
