Discover deleted and beta items in Majora's Mask 3D, including Blue Fire, Hairupi, and more. Learn about their potential functions and origins.

Hey there! This section is a bit of a deep dive into some of the stuff that didn't quite make it into the final version of Majora's Mask, or items that are just remnants left over from development. Think of it as a peek behind the curtain!

You'll find that a lot of these items have Japanese names and might seem a little strange, especially if you're familiar with the original N64 version. That's because some of these are leftovers from the Japanese release and how they were handled when localized for the US and later the 3DS version. For the most part, you won't be able to get these without using cheats, but it's still pretty interesting to see what could have been!

Deleted/Beta Items

Here's a rundown of some of the deleted or beta items you might find mentioned or even see if you're messing around with cheats:

  • Blue Fire: This one seems like it could be held in a bottle, but its exact function isn't known.
  • Hairarupi: This is an arbitrary leftover from the Japanese release, written in Japanese. It might have been a beta for a fish item, but it's scrapped. You can sell it for 50 Rupees, though!
  • Opapa no Dorinke: Another Japan-only item. There isn't even a sprite for it! It acts like a Red Potion.
  • Rongefashiku: This item looks like the slingshot from Ocarina of Time. If used, it acts like the Pictograph Box. It seems like the slingshot might have been intended for use, but its functions were later given to the Deku Mask.
  • Tokino Hochinko: This is the Hookshot from the Japanese game. It looks different from the one in Ocarina of Time, but it functions the same. It's likely a leftover from using Ocarina of Time sprites.
  • Tokino Ocarina: This is the Ocarina of Time from the Japanese version. It acts as the Pictograph Box when used. Another leftover from using Ocarina of Time sprites.
  • Yoichino Medaru: This is the Bow from the Japanese Ocarina of Time. It functions like the real Bow. Yet another leftover from using Ocarina of Time sprites.

Masks & Locations

Masks are super important in Majora's Mask 3D, not just for solving puzzles but also for getting some of the best optional gear. While many are optional, some lead to the mask that makes the final boss a breeze. Plus, using masks in sidequests can get you all sorts of goodies, like Pieces of Heart!

Here are the masks, listed alphabetically, with their main function and how to get them:

Non-Transformation Masks

  • All-Night Mask
    • How to Get: On the First Night in North Clock Town, wait for a woman to be robbed. Chase the robber, get her valuables back, and then on the Final Night at 10:00 PM, head to the shop. You can buy it for 500 Rupees.
    • Functions: This mask stops you from falling asleep. It's really handy for listening to Anju's grandmother's long stories in the Stock Pot Inn. You can get a Piece of Heart from her
