Learn the essentials of resource management in The Universim. This guide covers placing your epicenter, managing water and food, and building crucial structures for a thriving civilization.
This guide provides a walkthrough for starting your civilization in The Universim, focusing on essential resource management and building strategies. It's important to note that there's no single 'correct' way to play, but these steps offer a solid foundation for growth.
Introduction
The Tutorial
The game offers a tutorial to familiarize you with camera controls and basic gameplay mechanics.
The Mother Planet
Your starting world, the Mother Planet, is randomly generated and features Earth-like characteristics such as water, greenery, and seasons. This is where you will build your civilization.
The Epicenter
The first building you place is the Epicenter, which creates your initial four Nuggets (two adults, two children). Place it near water, forests, and rocks to minimize travel time for resource gathering.
Construction
Water
Immediately after placing the Epicenter, construct a Well from the Buildings menu (under the epicenter category) to secure a fresh water supply. Place it near a good water source, indicated by floating numbers. While the well is building, consider planning for additional water sources using Water Pumps or Fisher Piers. Most buildings require a Water Pump to function.
Food
After the Water Pump is complete, focus on food production. You can choose between fishing with Fisher Piers or building Farms. Farms may require an additional Water Pump for crops. Different crops have varying water needs, growth times, and yields, with some being better suited for specific biomes or temperatures. It's recommended to start with a crop that requires minimal water.
Maintenance
As your population grows, build an Engineer's Hut to enable repairs for existing buildings, preventing them from collapsing. Also, consider constructing a Hospital or Cemetery to manage injured or deceased Nuggets, preventing widespread illness and maintaining your civilization's health.
Accessories
Once basic needs are met, you can build an Eatery to convert raw food into prepared meals. The Forecast Tower can provide insights into future weather patterns and seasonal changes.
Repeat
To keep up with your growing population, continuously add more of the essential buildings like water pumps, farms, and hospitals. The game's population cap is expected to be removed as development progresses.
