Alright, so you've just booted up The Universim and you're wondering where to even begin? Don't sweat it, we've all been there! This guide is going to walk you through the absolute basics to get your little nuggets off to a good start. Think of it as your friendly nudge in the right direction.

The game's gonna give you a quick tutorial to get you familiar with the camera and basic controls, which is super helpful. After that, you'll land on your 'Mother Planet.' Each one is unique, randomly generated with familiar features like water, forests, and seasons – kind of like Earth, but with your budding civilization!

Your very first move is placing the Epicenter. This is the heart of your settlement, and it'll spawn your initial four nuggets (two adults, two kids). Here's the pro-tip: try to place it near water, a forest, and some loose rocks. Having these resources close by means less walking for your nuggets, which means they can get to work faster on building and survival. Once you've picked a spot, just left-click to confirm.

Construction Basics

With your first four nuggets, the adults will start gathering resources automatically. Your immediate priority is water. Click the hammer icon in the bottom left to open the Buildings menu, find the Well under the Epicenter category, and place it near a good water source. The game will show you a number indicating water quality – aim for the higher numbers!

While the well is building, think about your next steps. If you have multiple water sources nearby, you can set up Water Pumps to get more water, or even Fisher Piers to start getting food. More water sources mean faster resource gathering, which is always a win.

Once the well is up and running, you'll definitely want to build a Water Pump, as most buildings need water to function. After that, it's time to think about food. You can either expand your fishing operations or start building Farms. If you go with farms, you might need another water pump to keep those crops happy and growing. Different crops have different needs – some prefer specific temperatures or biomes, and some take longer to grow but yield more food. For your first farm, it's usually best to pick a crop that doesn't need a ton of water.

Keeping Things Running

As your population grows, you'll need to keep things from falling apart. Build an Engineer's Hut to allow your nuggets to repair buildings. Trust me, you don't want your hard-earned structures collapsing! It's also a good idea to build a Hospital or a Cemetery around this time. Injured nuggets lose health if not treated, and dead nuggets can spread illness if not buried. Keeping your nuggets healthy and preventing mass sickness is key to survival.

Later on, you can add an Eatery to turn raw food into prepared meals, or a Forecast Tower to get a heads-up on future weather and seasons. This helps you plan ahead for things like crop planting or potential disasters.

Growth and Repeat

The core loop of The Universim is about growth. As your population increases, you'll simply need to build more of everything – more water pumps, more farms, more hospitals, and so on. Keep an eye on your nuggets' needs and expand your infrastructure accordingly. While the nugget population is capped for now, that's expected to change as the game develops further. Just keep building, keep managing, and watch your civilization flourish!
