The Kayran: A Matter of Price is a crucial quest in Chapter 1, offering significant rewards and achievements. Delaying this main quest, along with "Indecent Proposal," allows for exploration and completion of side quests, maximizing experience gain. This strategy is vital for reaching Level 35 and unlocking the Guru Achievement later in the game.

After defeating the Kayran, loot its corpse to obtain the Kayran Skin. This item is essential for receiving the Diagram – Kayran Skin Armor upon turning in the quest. Before facing the Kayran, speak with Cedric outside Lobinden to purchase the Diagram – Kayran Trap for 276 Orens. Crafting this trap is a necessary step.

To prepare for the Kayran and other challenges, visit Cedric in Lobinden. While he sells Grapeshot bombs, purchasing the Formula for 70 Orens is more cost-effective for crafting them as needed. Grapeshot bombs require Rebis (Celandine herb) and Caelum (Bryonia herb). If you lack components, merchant Vilmos Bartok in Flotsam Town Square typically has them. Brewing five individual Swallow Potions (Vitriol, Aether, Caelum) will unlock the Apprentice Achievement.

Completing most available side quests in Flotsam before tackling the Kayran will likely unlock an achievement. If not, further side quests in Chapter 1 will provide additional opportunities. Playing on Iorveth's path during a first playthrough is recommended for increased XP from main missions.
