Guide to Chapter 2 of The Witcher: Investigate Salamandra, clear Vincent Meis, and uncover Thaler's secrets. Includes quest steps and rewards.
Walkthrough
- 1Head to the Temple Quarter and find Raymond's house on Harbor Street. Talk to him about Salamandra. Mentioning Azar Javed will make him help for free; otherwise, he'll charge 100 Orens. This conversation starts the quests "The Crown Witness" and "Vizima Confidential."
- 2Raymond will warn you that you're being followed. Geralt decides to wait until midnight. After Azar Javed and the Professor leave, defeat the remaining assassins using the Group Steel Style.
- 3Go to Vincent Meis and present the evidence to prove his innocence regarding Salamandra. Vincent will reveal that Azar Javed is trying to control the Fisstech trade and is an addict himself. He will also give you the "City Guard Signet Ring" to access the Hospital.
- 4If you let the Scoia’tael take Haren’s goods in the previous chapter, Coleman will be dead. Regardless, you need to talk to Jethro in the Dungeon about the Salamander prisoner. Bring Fisstech as a bribe.
- 5Jethro will ask for Fisstech in exchange for information. You can find Fisstech from assassins, buy it from Coleman for 100 Orens (if alive), or craft it using Alchemy. Give Jethro the Fisstech and ask about the Silver Sword to start the quest "Suspect: Thaler." Then ask about the prisoner to learn he's in the Hospital.
- 6Go to Thaler's house, east of the Hospital. If he's not home, wait until nightfall. To progress "Suspect: Thaler," find a "Mysterious Man" outside Thaler's house after 21:00. Talking to him will provide evidence of Thaler's contacts.
- 7Inside Thaler's house, you can buy books and a "Blue Meteorite." Thaler will reveal that the Silver Sword wasn't Berengar's but was acquired from a gambler at the Hairy Bear, with Coleman acting as the middleman. He'll also mention Berengar worked for Kalkstein. Asking about Salamandra updates "Suspect: Thaler" but yields no new leads.
- 8Challenge Thaler to a game of dice. If you win, you defeat a Professional player.
- 9Drink with Thaler, using the weak alcohol you brought. You must consume eight mugs.
