Follow our comprehensive walkthrough for Lakeside and The Village in The Witcher Chapter 4, guiding you through Murky Waters 2, quests, and key locations.
The chapter begins with Geralt witnessing locals observing a submerged city. Triss's teleportation lands him abruptly, where he's met by an inquisitive girl. She reveals the location as Murky Waters, a place mentioned in the Professor's writings, and discusses a complex romantic entanglement involving Alina, Celina, Adam, and Julian. She also speaks of fish people, a mysterious "Lady," and adult desires. After this conversation, Geralt is left with unresolved political matters in Vizima and a new area to explore.
First, cross a bridge to the northwest to find a large cliffside statue. Nearby, a Vodyanoi Priest awaits. Initially communicating in its own tongue, it surprisingly switches to Geralt's language, requesting tribute to its statue. Upon compliance, it offers dialogue options. Asking for work reveals a conflict between the Vodyanoi and local humans. A Witcher was hired to resolve this aggressively, but is currently occupied slaying creatures in a nearby crypt. To learn more, Geralt must find this Witcher, initiating the main quest "Ripples".
Return across the bridge and head south to find a Naiad between the island and mainland shore, resembling Morenn from the Swamp Forest. She explains she lost a necklace to a Drowner named Zephyr. To lure Zephyr out, Geralt must kill enough of his Drowner companions. While her reward is minimal, the encounter itself is considered a reward, starting the quest "Old Habits Die Hard". This requires terminating three groups of Drowners: one by the river, one near the village, and one on an island.
Continue south to the mainland. Heading east along the shore leads to a fireplace near a "Circle of Waning Magic". Past this circle, further east, a trunk holds loot. To the west lies a boat needed to reach "Black Tern Island." Geralt decides to ask the boat's owner for permission.
Cross a bridge and search the west side of a hut to find its door. Inside, speak with the Fisher King. If it's night, he'll be in bed; otherwise, he'll be near his boat outside. He is taciturn but grants Geralt permission to use his boat. If the quest "Ripples" hasn't been started, he'll mention the Vodyanoi-human conflict, prompting Geralt to investigate either side. Loot his hut before leaving.
Proceed west along the shore to the area marked "Lakeside - naiad’s bathing spot." Here, find the first group of Drowners to kill for the Zephyr quest. After their demise, the quest updates. Head south uphill to a cave guarded by an Elf. The Elf has nothing significant to say, but the cave is worth exploring.
Hungry Elves
The Elven Cave is inhabited by Elves in dire straits. Speak with Toruviel, an Elf previously encountered who gave Dandelion his lute. She explains that Geralt once made her question her hatred for humanity, a notion Geralt might find ironic given his own complex identity. She asks Geralt to buy bread from the nearby village for the Elves, an errand they failed themselves. This begins the quest "Daily Bread".
Inside the cave, Chireadan, another Elf who struggled with assimilation, can be found. He is a Sharper skilled in dice poker from his tavern days. Lastly, an "Elven Craftsman" is present but not immediately relevant.
| Objective | Reward |

A Long Lost Witcher
Upon entering the crypt, Geralt identifies the figure ahead as Berengar, despite having never met him, noting that only another Witcher could be present.
