Hey there! Welcome to the Unpacking guide. This game is all about the simple joy of unpacking boxes after a move, and thankfully, it's pretty straightforward to complete. With a little help, you'll be done in about one to two hours. We'll walk you through each level, which are basically different stages of a person's life, to help you snag all the achievements. Don't worry, nothing is missable, and you can always replay levels if you need to!

We've got a great video walkthrough from BiLLzuMaNaTi at Achievement Land that we'll be referencing, so you've got visual help whenever you need it.

General Hints and Tips for Unpacking

Your main goal in each level is to empty all the boxes. It's a simple point-and-click affair: click a box to open it, then click an item to pull it out and place it somewhere. As you take items out, the paper lining the box will disappear. Once a box is empty, one last click will make it vanish.

There's a super handy accessibility option called "Allow items anywhere." Turning this on means you don't have to find the 'perfect' spot for everything; you can just place items wherever you want, even on the floor! So, don't stress about making things look neat – unless you're a fellow perfectionist, then good luck!

When you pick up an item, it'll often auto-rotate to fit where you're trying to place it. If you need to rotate it manually, just press and hold !cn_B. Sometimes, achievements require you to interact with an item, which you'll do by pressing !cn_B while holding it or hovering over it.

Some items can be stacked, others can hang on walls or clothes hangers. If you're running low on space, you can grab an item and move to a different room using !cn_LB or !cn_RB. Also, remember that most rooms scroll up and down, so there's usually more space than you initially see.

Pro Tip: Clothes hangers can take up a lot of space, especially in later levels. Try to hang them up on the rack in the wardrobes to keep them tidy and out of the way.

Story Walkthrough

First things first, let's enable that accessibility option! From the main menu, go to Settings > Accessibility and select "Allow items anywhere." Confirm it, and don't worry, this won't affect any achievements.

Now, back to the main menu, select Play. You'll see piles of books representing your save slots. Pick the top one by pressing !cn_A and enter your name to start your journey.

1997

Okay, let's get started! Click on the two boxes you see. With the "Allow items anywhere" option on, just place items wherever you like – seriously, it doesn't matter where.

To open a box, press !cn_A, then press !cn_A again to grab an item. Move it to your desired spot and press !cn_A to place it.

You'll eventually find a Rubik's Cube. While you're holding it, keep pressing !cn_B. The colors will change, and when you finally solve it (all sides the same color), stop pressing !cn_B immediately! If you keep going, you'll mess it up again. Solving it unlocks the Solve a puzzle achievement.

Keep unpacking. Once a box is empty, a final click will make it disappear. You'll find a third box once you empty the top one. Inside, there's an old Polaroid camera. Place it down, and you'll unlock the Make some memories achievement.

After all three boxes are empty, a star will pop up in the bottom-right corner. Click it to finish the 1997 level and earn the Beginning achievement!

2004

This level has three rooms. You can switch between them using !cn_RB and !cn_LB.

Head to the bathroom first. We're going to work on a cumulative achievement here: flushing toilets. There are seven in total across several levels. So, in the bathroom, click the handle on the right side of the toilet cistern to get your first flush: Gotta flush 'em all 1/7.

Now, back to the bedroom to unpack. Keep an eye out for a wooden artist's mannequin. Don't place it down just yet! Hold onto it and press !cn_B repeatedly until it does a dab. This will unlock the Strike a pose achievement.
