Learn about Time Attack mode in Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Discover when it becomes available, the rewards, and the different trials.

Time Attack is a mode exclusive to Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition where players aim to defeat waves of enemies as quickly as possible. Success in these trials yields new cosmetic armor and Noponstones, a currency used to purchase items like Gems and Master Arts Manuals from the Nopon Archsage.

Players gain access to Time Attack by reaching Bionis' Leg for the first time, where they will find an orange portal. Initially, only one Time Attack trial is available, and the purchasable items are limited. As the story progresses and Future Connected is cleared, more challenging trials become accessible.

The availability of Time Attack trials is tied to story progression:

  • Humble Beginnings — Reach Bionis’ Leg
  • Fair Game — Sharla joins the party
  • The Walls Have Eyes — Dunban joins the party
  • Shaggy-dog Story — Riki joins the party
  • Oh, Brother! — Melia joins the party for the final time
  • Third Wheel — Seven joins the party
  • Sparks Fly, You Die — Reach Agniratha
  • Lost in a Dark Dream — Clear Future Connected
  • He of the Metal Face — Reach Bionis Interior in Chapter 17
  • Uniquel Disadvantaged — Reach Gondorl Cathedral on Prison Island in Chapter 17

Rewards include exclusive cosmetic armor sets for various characters, such as Resort and Camo for Shulk, Exotic and Debonair for Reyn, Festival and Worker’s for Dunban, Captain’s and Officer’s for Sharla, Pineapple and Denim for Riki, and Eryth and Frontier for Melia. Seven also receives unique sets like Sun, Power, Power II, and Power III. Other armor sets like Orion, M100, Titan, and Ledios are available for all characters except Seven.

In addition to armor, players can purchase other items using Noponstones. These include all Gems up to Rank V (with new ranks unlocking based on story progress), Master Arts Manuals (only available after clearing Future Connected, allowing Arts to reach Rank XII), Materials (available upon reaching Gondorl Cathedral on Prison Island in Chapter 17), and Collectables (also available upon reaching Gondor's Cathedral on Prison Island in Chapter 17).
