The Withered Forest is an optional area accessible from the Sunken City - Flooded Street. It's a treasure trove of goods, collectibles, and crystals, but beware of tough opponents and hazardous poison swamps.

Twilight Hill - Withered Forest Guide

Forest Entrance

After exiting the train station, you'll reach a branch. Restore it and speak with Kastina. Prepare for the Withered Forest, populated by Necros and Hunters.

  1. Head through the building and into the forest path. Defeat the Necro on the ledge above to get the Magnetic Surge. Then, defeat the Necro on the main path and continue.
  2. Circle around the bend and head right at the ledge. Defeat the Necro and collect the Luminous Diamond near the rock wall. Pick up an Antidote on the broken walkway. Head back and take the downward path. Defeat the new Necro type with a large arm, dodging its attacks, and loot the Luminous Carbon.
  3. Pass a dead hunter and enter the poisonous swamp. Monitor your poison build-up and have an Antidote ready.
  4. Collect the Mud Ball. Defeat the two swimmer Necros to the right and loot the Adaptive Fragment.
  5. You'll find more swampland. To the right is a suspended ladder to walkways in the trees (inaccessible yet). To the left, restore a branch and find a vending machine. Take the left path and restore the branch.

Deadwoods

The vending machine offers:

  • Mud Ball - 250 Crystals
  • Antidote - 800 Crystals
  • Noise Tape - 1320 Crystals
  • Goggles - 2500 Crystals

Many items are off the main path; risk poison and danger to obtain them.

  1. From the branch, enter the alcove and follow the path left along a rock ridge with a Pierce-inducing Necro below.
  2. Optional: Drop down to defeat the Necro and collect Phosphorous Dart x 3. Return to the branch area via the poison swamp.
  3. Continue past the Necro along the rocky ridge to an area with hunters. Knock down the ladder for safety.
  4. Optional: Climb the ladder on this platform. To the right, defeat an enemy on a broken bridge and loot a Noise Recorder. To the left, fight a hulking hunter and another hunter who drops down. A third hunter throws electrified bolts from above. Defeat them and loot Mechanical Part. Climb the ladder and cross the planks to loot Noise Tape.
  5. Go to ground level and take the rock path left to find two Necros. Defeat them and loot the spell Terra Inferno.
  6. Follow the path to a campfire with a circling brute. Another hunter is on the platform above. Defeat them and loot Salted Mud Ball beyond the fire.
  7. Climb the ladder and grab Luminous Carbon near the broken bridge. Return to the ladder and go the other way to find a branch on your left (Hunters' Trestle).
  8. Before proceeding, return to the area in step 3 where you fought the two Necros near the statue. Stay along the right wall where you picked up the Terra Nova spell, take the first right, and follow the path to a climbable ladder.
  9. Head up the path and restore the Twilight Foothills branch.

Twilight Foothills

  1. Continue along the path and defeat the Blader to obtain the Corrupted Blader Swords. Be mindful of her Piercing build-up attacks.
  2. Head toward the ladder and turn left to loot a Stabilizer. Climb the next ladder, then another. At the top, activate a memory to obtain the Slayer Normal Seal. Enter the outer Arboretum. An inner portion with a branch and an item is inaccessible until the Spirit Depths.
  3. Head up the swirling ramp to find the Crystal Sprout at the top, which allows stat point respeccing. Return to the Hunters' Trestle branch to continue in the Withered Forest.

Hunters' Trestle

  1. Head down the curving bridge path. Where the railing ends on the left, you can drop down for items.
  2. Optional: Drop down to fight hunters. Climb the ladder on the opposite wall, break boxes, and drop to a ledge with a chest containing the Raincoat set. From here, go down. Near the wooden gate, defeat two urchins and loot Adaptive Fragment. Next to them, in a cave with more urchins, find two AoE Pierce-inducing Necros. Loot Soil: Withered Forest and the Moon Dew Normal Seal (which slows Poison build-up). The Soil can be traded to Vikas in the Slums for Mud Ball x 10.
  3. Optional: More items are in the poison swamp. Head back out to find an island in the middle of the swamp with a Pierce-inducing Necro. Loot the Chippe
