Walkthrough
- 1Begin by deploying your Ghost, which will attract a large number of enemies. The Hive attack in three waves: Thrall, Cursed Thrall, Acolytes, Knights, and a Wizard. Use grenades on the Thrall to create an opening and take cover. Focus on eliminating the Knights, distinguishing between Cleaver Knights that charge and Boomer Knights that lob explosives.
- 2A powerful Hand Cannon and Shotgun are recommended for this stage, with any Heavy Weapon useful for emergencies. Save your Super Ability for the final wave to deal with rushing Thrall and Cleaver Knights.
- 3After defeating the final enemy, take the Graven Codex to the Cryptarch.
- 4The Sword of Crota: Head to Hellmouth and locate the Swarm Prince, a Major Knight accompanied by Acolytes. Banuk, the Swarm Prince, frequently uses boomer attacks, so use cover. Employ Heavy Weapons and your Super Ability to defeat him.
- 5Proceed through Hellmouth into the Hive compound. You'll encounter three Knights lobbing explosives; use cover to take them down safely.
- 6Descend into the Gatehouse, a Darkness Zone, where you'll face Knights and Acolytes. In the final room, you'll encounter Thrall, Cursed Thrall, Acolytes, and Wizards. Take the high ground and use grenades for rushing Thrall. Use an Assault Rifle for Acolytes and a Heavy Weapon for the Wizard, prioritizing it if possible. Clear out Cursed Thrall before claiming the Sword of Crota.
- 7Note: The Sword of Crota is a powerful weapon with its own Super Ability. It can be used for quick attacks (R1/Right Bumper) and heavy attacks (R2/Right Trigger). Combos include three quick strikes or two quick strikes followed by a heavy. The Super Ability is activated with both attack buttons and can be used during any combo.
- 8The initial wave of enemies after picking up the sword consists of Thrall and Acolytes, allowing you to get accustomed to its use.
- 9Prince Merok, a Major Knight with a large sword, will then appear. Use the Sword of Crota's Super Ability on him, then defeat the lesser Hive enemies to recharge your Super.
- 10Use the balconies for cover and bait enemies close enough to be slaughtered with the Sword of Crota.
- 11After defeating Merok, Dakoor, the Yul Prince, will emerge with Acolytes. Once Dakoor is defeated, Garok will appear with Thrall and Acolytes. Use quick combinations and hit-and-run tactics against the Princes.
- 12Turn in the Blade Shards to your Vanguard Mentor at the Tower to receive an Armor Upgrade.
- 13The Shrine of Oryx: Head towards the Gatehouse in Hellmouth, encountering many Acolytes. Inside, you'll face three Knights with large swords; backpedal and use close-range weapons to headshot them.
- 14As you reach the Gatehouse, observe the Fallen and Hive fighting. Allow them to engage briefly, then eliminate all remaining enemies for maximum experience. Deal with the Hive Wizard and Fallen Servitor using a Heavy Weapon or Sniper Rifle.
- 15Ahead, you will encounter the Exiled Baron Frigoris. Be cautious of Stealth Vandals that may attempt to ambush you while you engage Dregs and Acolytes in the distance. The Baron can be defeated with a few Heavy rounds.
- 16Enter the Hall of Wisdom, a Darkness Zone that leads down to the Shrine of Oryx.

- A powerful Hand Cannon and Shotgun are very useful for the initial waves.
