Complete Dragon Age II Herbalist Tasks (Optional)

Alright, so you've stumbled upon the optional 'Herbalist's Tasks' quest in Dragon Age II. Don't worry, it's not too tricky, but it does send you on a bit of a scavenger hunt. Let's get this done so you can move on to the main story!

Walkthrough

First things first, you need to head over to the Gallows. Find Record Keeper Teryn there – you'll be turning in a quest to them. After that, seek out Solivitus. He's the one who'll give you the 'Herbalist's Tasks' quest.

Now, for the first item: the Spider's Silk Gland. You'll find these on the large spiders you fight in either the Abandoned House or the Ruined Passage. If you've already cleared these areas for other quests and were thorough, you might already have this!

Next up is the Dragon Fang. This one's a bit more involved, as you only get it by defeating the Mature Dragon at the end of 'The Bone Pit' quest. So, if you haven't done that yet, you'll need to tackle that first.

Finally, we need the Pure Ironbark. Head to Sundermount and find Master Ilen. He'll tell you he's out of stock but will give you a hint about where to find some.

Leave Sundermount and make your way to the Ironwood Clearing. You'll find some Darkspawn lurking there. Follow the path, take a turn west, and defeat any Darkspawn you encounter. Then, loot the nearby rubble.

Keep heading north, and you'll face another group of Darkspawn. Take them down, and an Ogre will show up. Once the Ogre is defeated, look in the northeast corner of the area. You should find the pure ironbark near a corpse.

With all three items – the Spider's Silk Gland, Dragon Fang, and Pure Ironbark – in your inventory, head back to Solivitus in Kirkwall. Turn in the items, and you'll complete the quest!

Tips

If you've already completed 'The Bone Pit' and defeated the Mature Dragon, you'll already have the Dragon Fang. No need to go back!
Make sure to search thoroughly in the Abandoned House and Ruined Passage for the Spider's Silk Gland.
The Ironwood Clearing can be a bit tough with the Darkspawn and the Ogre, so be prepared for a fight. Use your best tactics and abilities!
