Learn how to start and complete the Cameron's Codex side quest in Dragon Quest VIII, including all rewards and entry locations.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
    After entering Port Prospect, a scene will trigger with Cameron.
  2. 2
    To take a photo, press the Start Button to open the camera. Use the Joystick to aim and press the A Button to take the photo. You have 100 photo slots.

    Take a photo of Cameron and save it.
  4. 4
    Speak to Cameron again to receive the Codex.
  5. 5
    Go outside and take a photo of any random monster.
  6. 6
    Return to Cameron to unlock the Codex for actual use.
  7. 7
    Cameron will give you a Codex containing entries for photos you need to take.

    Each completed entry awards 1-3 Stamps.
  9. 9
    Collect Stamps to complete Stamp Cards for useful items.
  10. 10
    New Codex entries unlock as you enter towns or complete story points. You can take photos of objects before their entry is unlocked, but you cannot complete them until then.

  • Camera Controls: L (Zoom Out), R (Zoom In), A (Take Photo), B (Show/Hide Party Members), X (Group Photo), Y (Change Pose), D-Pad (Pan Camera), Joystick (Rotate Camera), Start (Open/Close Camera).
