How to Unlock the Blacksmith

Learn how to find Oswald Anders, the Blacksmith, in Enshrouded. Follow our guide to navigate the Shroud, complete the 'Find the Sleeping Survivor' quest, and summon him to your base.

Alright, let's get you set up with the Blacksmith in Enshrouded. This guy is super important for crafting better gear, but you gotta find him first. The quest you'll be looking for is called "Find the Sleeping Survivor." Don't worry, it's one of the earlier ones you'll get.

Your first objective is to head north towards Braelyn Bridge. You'll notice the bridge is out, which is why the quest tells you to explore the Shroud. Look for a slope on the side of the bridge that leads down into the Shroud. Follow that slope.

If this is your first time venturing into the Shroud, you'll see a yellow timer bar at the top of your screen. This is your Shroud timer – if it runs out, you're in trouble! For this initial trip, though, you'll have plenty of time.

Keep following the path. You'll pass a 'Restore Time' capsule next to a tent on your left – good to know for later when you're exploring properly. Continue heading north. You'll come across a small cave; go through it. As soon as you pop out the other side, turn north again and head up the wooden stairs. This will lead you out of the Shroud. Keep climbing the frame nearby and then follow the path northwest. This path will lead you to an encampment.

Your goal is the building at the very back of the encampment. You'll likely have to deal with a few enemies on the way. The game might even give you a little tutorial on using bushes for stealth – feel free to use it if you want to play it safe. Alternatively, you can just make a run for it past the enemies and straight into the building. Once inside, look for the chamber in the back-left corner. Interact with it, and you'll find Oswald Anders, the Blacksmith!

While you're in there, make sure to grab the note on the opposite wall and then check behind the pots. There's a secret wall there that hides a chest with some goodies.

How to Summon the Blacksmith

Now that you've found Oswald, you'll want to bring him to your base. To summon any of the Craftspeople, you'll need a Summoning Staff. You can craft one right away from your manual crafting menu using just one Twig. Once you have the staff, equip it to your hotbar. Then, hover over it and press the interact key (it's usually the number key corresponding to its slot). You'll get a menu showing all the Craftspeople you've found. Select Oswald, and then place him down wherever you like – ideally inside a shelter you've built.

The best part is you can move your Craftspeople around anytime you want without losing anything. If you decide to relocate them, just open your menu, select the staff, and move them to a new spot. Easy!
