Alright, so you're looking for salt in Enshrouded, huh? It's one of those early-game resources you'll need to boost your Flame Altar and craft some important stuff. Don't worry, it's not too hidden away, but you'll definitely need to venture into the Shroud for the good stuff.

The Saline Quarry: Your First Salt Stop

This is your best bet when you're just starting out. It's located in the southern part of Embervale, southeast of Braelyn Bridge. Think of it as being just east of Longkeep. You'll need to make your way down some pretty steep cliffs, so make sure you've got your Glider ready to go. Glide into the Shroud east of Longkeep, then head southeast. You might pass the Saline Springs, but honestly, the real haul is at the Quarry itself. Keep an eye on that Shroud timer – you've got about five minutes before it gets nasty, so plan your exit!

The Egerton Salt Mines: For Serious Salt Mining

Once you've got your Flame Altar beefed up a bit and feel a bit more comfortable in the Shroud, the Egerton Salt Mines are where it's at. It's a tougher trek and way more dangerous, so make sure your gear is up to snuff and you've got that Grappling Hook for crossing Braelyn Bridge.

There are a couple of ways to get there:

  • Route 1: The Long Way Around. Cross Braelyn Bridge with your Grappling Hook, then follow the cliff edge northwest. The mines are in the northwesternmost part of the big Shroud zone you'll see below. It's a bit of a trek.
  • Route 2: The Spire Shortcut. First, activate the Springlands Fast Travel point at the top of the Ancient Spire near Braelyn Bridge. From the top, jump west and glide over the Shroud. Head northwest, keeping the cliff edge in sight. You'll find the mines beneath the westernmost part of the Shroud.
  • Route 3: Via Woodgard. Head northwest from Longkeep, following the Shroud's edge. You'll eventually hit Woodgard. You can scavenge some salt there and even build a Flame Altar to make future trips easier.

Just a heads-up, the areas around the Egerton Salt Mines are crawling with Critters, so be ready for a fight. But trust me, the amount of salt you'll find there is totally worth the risk!

What's Salt Good For?

Besides powering up your Flame Altar, you'll mainly use salt early on to craft Dried Fur using the Drying Rack. This is key for making some decent early armor and furniture. Keep stocking up, though, because you'll definitely need it for more advanced recipes as you progress.
