Crafting Minigame: When you craft, you'll play a minigame that is the same across all crafting Lifes (cooking, blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring, alchemy, artistry). Your character is in the center with three tools. Icons appear at the top, requiring you to move between tools and perform actions like button presses, rotations, or holds. More complex sequences with more icons grant more time. Completing objectives quickly leads to better results (“Excellent”, “Great”, “Good”), increasing the crafting completion meter. A preview of the next objective is shown on the top right. Failing to finish all objectives before the sequence ends results in crafting failure and lost materials.

The minigame icons and stations vary by Life, with Alchemist and Cook often requiring stick rotations. While mastering the minigame is helpful, your performance is secondary to your Crafting Ability.

Crafting Outcome and Crafting Ability: Failing the minigame means you won't craft the item. Success in the minigame can influence the quality of the crafted item, potentially leading to a “Perfect” grade. However, your Crafting Ability is the primary factor determining crafting success. Your Crafting Ability acts like an “attack” stat for Crafting Lifes, increasing with equipped Life Tools (e.g., hammer for Blacksmith, needle for Tailor). It can also be boosted by skills and Buddies, with the first Buddy adding half their Crafting Ability and the second adding a quarter. Your Crafting Ability influences:

• Completion gained from objectives.
• Overall minigame results.

Each item has a recommended Crafting Ability score. Crafting above this score is possible but may result in insufficient completion even with excellent minigame performance. A Crafting Ability score roughly twice the recommended score makes achieving a “Perfect” result easier, especially with good minigame grades. A high Crafting Ability score is essential for faster crafting and optimal results.

Boosting Your Crafting Ability Scores: Equipping higher-tier Life Tools significantly boosts your Crafting Ability. Your equipped Life Tool is crucial, as your Buddies' Crafting Ability also depends heavily on their equipped Life Tools.
