He starts as a Villager at Level 1, and the main goal here is to get him to Level 2 before the map ends. If you manage that, he's yours to keep! If not, well, you can always try again. Starting Out: You'll begin on a map with a few choke points. Enemies will come at you from the north and west. The key here is to not get surrounded. I like to plug up the western entrance with some of my tougher units. This way, you can focus on dealing with the enemies coming from the north first.

Dealing with Threats: Once the northern path is under control, you can start pushing west, then north towards the chests and the boss. Keep an eye out for Thieves – you'll want to take them out before they can get to the chests and potentially steal from them. There are two chest keys on the map, so you'll be able to open whatever you find.

Protecting Donnel: This is where it gets tricky. Donnel is a Level 1 Villager, so he's pretty fragile. You'll want to use your stronger units to weaken enemies without actually defeating them. Then, you can have Donnel swoop in and finish them off. This is how he'll get the experience he needs to level up. Pairing him up with a sturdy unit like Kellam can also help boost his stats and keep him safe.

Boss Encounter: The boss, Roddick, is a Level 7 Barbarian. He's stationary, so he won't move around the map. He's got a Steel Axe and a Hand Axe. He's not too tough, especially if you've been focusing on weakening other enemies for Donnel. Just be careful of any Archers on the map as you advance; they can make it hard to protect your weaker units.

Tips

Thieves give a good chunk of experience, so if Donnel can take one down, that's a huge help.
Don't be afraid to pair Donnel up with a stronger unit to give him stat boosts and protection.
If you fail to level Donnel up, you can always restart the chapter. It's better to try again than to miss out on recruiting him!
Use the map's walls to your advantage by creating choke points. This helps control enemy flow and lets you pick them off one by one.
Keep enemy attack ranges in mind, especially from Archers, to avoid having your vulnerable units get hit.

Successfully recruiting Donnel by leveling him up at least once before the end of the mission.
