The Scorcher is the main weapon of a Boomer (a type of enemy). At its heart, it is a grenade launcher that possesses a larger splash damage area compared to the Torque Bow. It is described as a pretty much guaranteed kill.

Keep in mind that the shot arcs, so you will have to aim a little higher than your target to actually hit them. This aiming mechanic can be a little troubling sometimes. Although it has extra splash damage, there is no perceived difference in effectiveness between the Scorcher and the Torque Bow; either one will kill on impact the same way.
