Guide to completing Part 67 of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, focusing on Odd Jobs like Excess Delivery, including medal requirements, tips, and rewards for 100% completion.
This section covers the Odd Jobs, which are side-missions required for 100% Completion in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. These include Rampages, Unique Stunt Jumps, and checkpoint races. Most side-missions have Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medal requirements. Achieving at least a Bronze Medal is necessary for the mission to count towards 100% Completion. There are 85 Medals on NDS and 97 on PSP to acquire. While Gold Medals are not required for 100% Completion, some tasks reward upgrades for achieving them. Be aware that failing to get a Gold Medal, even if the mission is successfully completed, may count as a Mission Failure. The Mission Attempts stat is also affected by these side-missions. Before starting, it's recommended to acquire ammo for the Pistol and Micro-SMG, and obtain the Sword from Chinatown for melee combat.
Walkthrough:
- Excess Delivery: This side-mission involves collecting and delivering Packages using special Alpha Mail vans. Two vans are available: one in Middle Park East (Algonquin) and another in Industrial (Bohan).
- Middle Park East (Algonquin) Van Directions: From Webby [LCT-D17], head west, turn left at the next four-way intersection, and look for the van on the right side of the road as you head south.
- Industrial (Bohan) Van Directions: From Chung-Hee [IDT-D53], head north from the nearby road curve, turn right at the next three-way intersection, and then turn right about halfway to the next intersection to find tractor trailers with Alpha Mail branding and the van.
- Upon entering a van, the mission begins. You must collect and deliver up to five Packages, competing against rivals who also aim to collect and deliver them. You will have one Henchman to assist you. Rivals do not appear on the map.
- Your primary objective is to collect a Package before your rivals do and deliver it to the marked destination.
- If a rival collects a Package first, chase and destroy their van to force the driver out, kill them, and retrieve the Package. If they deliver it, that round ends, and you'll be prompted to collect another.
- The mission concludes when your van is destroyed or all five Packages are successfully delivered (regardless of who delivers them). The mission is timed.
- Tips for Excess Delivery:
- Beat rivals to the Package to minimize combat.
- Avoid attracting the attention of the Cops; use the Sword for fighting if necessary.
- The van is slow with poor acceleration but has decent durability. Rivals use similar vans.
- To reach Packages faster, avoid hitting obstacles.
- To avoid lengthy stops, jump out of the van near the Package, grab it, and return to the van.
- If you drive well, you may avoid direct confrontation with rivals on foot. Your Henchman can help fend off chasing rivals. The Henchman can be left behind or killed without major consequence.
- Medal Requirements: Bronze for delivering 3 packages, Silver for 4, and Gold for all 5.
- Obtaining Gold in both Excess Delivery missions rewards the Big Pants upgrade, doubling Drug carrying capacity.
- To achieve Gold, treat it like a Checkpoint Race. Package and destination locations are fixed. Memorize routes after a few attempts.
- After dropping off a Package, immediately head to the next one before the route displays to save time.
