Learn how Mission Agents and Guild Envoys work in no mans sky. Improve standing with Gek, Vy'keen, Korvax, and Merchants, Mercenaries, Explorers guilds.
Mission Agents can be found at any space station and offer two types of Local Missions: those that improve your standing with a specific race (Gek, Vy’keen, or Korvax) and those that improve your standing with a specific guild (Merchants, Mercenaries, or Explorers). Race-specific missions are only available for the dominant race of the system you are in. For example, if a system's dominant race is Gek, mission agents there will only offer missions to increase your standing with the Gek. Initially, if your standing with a race is low, most agents will offer missions to improve that race's standing. Guild-specific missions are rarer at first but become more common as your race standing increases.
You can also increase your standing with a race by performing beneficial actions in their system, such as destroying pirates harassing settlements, outposts, or Freighters, completing tasks at Manufacturing Facilities and Operations Centres, or giving gifts to members of that race. Your standing increases by +1 when giving gifts, and there are two types of gifts for each race.
Conversely, you can lose reputation standing with a race by attacking neutral ships and space stations, using threatening dialogue, saying the wrong thing during language practice, or refusing gifts from them.
Gek, Vy’keen, and Korvax Rank Standings:
- Rival/Enemy/Annoyance: -5
- Competitor/Detractor/Irritation: -2
- Customer/Neutral/Unstudied: 0
- Client/Accomplice/Point of Interest: 3
- Valued Customer/Ally/Test Subject: 8
- Colleague/Close Ally/Research Focus: 14
- Partner/Comrade/Trial Candidate: 21
- Friend/Preceptor/Significance: 30
- Best Friend/Adjutant/Saviour: 40
- Most Favoured/Commandant/Singularity: 60
- Trade Lord/Templar/Traveller of the Atlas: 100
Merchants, Mercenaries, and Explorers Guild Missions:
Once you have sufficient standing with a race (generally beyond rank 2 or 3), mission rewards become more diverse. Each agent offers 5 missions: the first often increases race standing, the second, third, and fourth are typically low-level guild missions, and the fifth is a higher-level, more rewarding guild-specific mission. As your guild standing increases, more high-level missions become available, sometimes offering rare items, Units, or Nanites instead of reputation gains.
You can also complete guild-specific actions outside of missions to earn in-game trophies from the Milestones menu. These actions do not increase guild standing but track progress:
- Merchants Guild: Earn units and farm plants.
- Mercenaries Guild: Destroy sentinels and kill pirates.
- Explorers Guild: Scan rare creatures and warp to new systems.
Mission Types and the Fastest Way to Complete Them:
There are 13 mission types, often with identical objectives despite different names. You can accept the same mission type from multiple agents in different systems and complete them simultaneously. For example, accepting five missions to feed/cull animals, photograph animals/landscapes, or kill sentinels, and then completing the task on a single planet, will fulfill all five missions at once.
If you find yourself only receiving certain mission types for a guild, try visiting systems with different dominant races. The Gek tend to offer more exploration-related missions, while the Vy’keen offer more missions related to combat.
