How to Beat Mimic

Stats / Weaknesses:

• The Mimic does not have a specific weakness tied to its ghost type, but its mimicry is its defining characteristic.
• It can mimic any evidence of other ghost types.
• It has a chance to mimic cursed possessions, and when it does, it will mimic the effects of that cursed possession, not the ghost type it is pretending to be.

Phases:

1. Mimicry Phase: The ghost will exhibit behaviors and evidence of another ghost type. This can include manifesting, using equipment, or leaving specific evidence like fingerprints or D.O.T.S.
2. Cursed Possession Mimicry: If the ghost mimics a cursed possession (e.g., Ouija Board, Summoning Circle), it will act as if it is that possession, and the player interacting with it will suffer the consequences of that specific cursed possession.

Strategy:

• Observe Cursed Possessions: Pay close attention to any cursed possessions found. If a Mimic is present, it might interact with them in a way that reveals its true nature. For example, if a Ouija Board is used and the ghost responds as if it were the Ouija Board's effect, it's a strong indicator of a Mimic.
• Evidence Analysis: While the Mimic can produce any evidence, look for inconsistencies or unusual patterns that don't align with a single ghost type.
• Sanity Management: Like all ghosts, maintaining sanity is crucial. Use sanity-restoring items if your sanity drops too low, especially during hunts.
• Safe Zones: Utilize crucifixes and smudge sticks to create safe zones and deter hunts.
• Identification: The key to identifying a Mimic is often through its interaction with cursed possessions. If you suspect a Mimic, try to find and use a cursed possession to see if it behaves as the Mimic rather than the ghost type it's imitating.
