How to Beat Yokai

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Weakness: The Yokai becomes more aggressive when players talk near it. It can also hear talking from further away than other ghosts.
• Evidence: Fingerprints, Ghost Orbs, Spirit Box

Phases:

1. Early Game: The Yokai behaves like a standard ghost. Focus on gathering evidence using standard equipment like the EMF Reader, Spirit Box, and Ghost Writing Book.
2. Mid Game: As you gather evidence, pay attention to its reactions to sound. If you notice it becoming more active or aggressive after someone speaks, it's a strong indicator of a Yokai.
3. Late Game/Hunt: During a hunt, the Yokai's ability to hear talking from further away becomes a significant threat. If you are in a hunt and need to communicate, do so with extreme caution or not at all.

Strategy:

• Communication is Key (and Dangerous): While talking can provoke the Yokai, it's also essential for identifying it. Use the Spirit Box to try and get a reaction. If it reacts strongly to talking, especially from a distance, it's likely a Yokai.
• Silence is Golden: When you suspect a Yokai, try to minimize talking, especially when you are in the same room or hallway. This can help prevent hunts.
• Crucifixes are Your Friend: Like with many ghosts, Crucifixes can help prevent hunts. Place them strategically around the ghost's common areas.
• Sanity Management: The Yokai's increased aggression when provoked by talking means that maintaining high sanity is crucial to avoid hunts. Use Sanity Medication if your sanity drops too low.
• Observe its Range: Pay attention to how far away the ghost seems to react to your voice. The Yokai's enhanced hearing range is a key identifier.
