Walkthrough
  1. 1
Unification Stage: Plan party movements on a map of Japan. Each character has one action per turn (one month). A maximum of six characters can be stationed in a castle. AI can manage armies in conquered castles, but the protagonist requires manual control.
  2. 2
Battle Stage: When a battle begins, it takes place on a grid. Up to six generals/Pokémon per side can fight. Characters use "Warrior Skills" (once per battle) to aid their Pokémon.
  3. 3
Pokémon Linking: Characters build compatibility ("Link") with Pokémon by visiting castle towns or fighting wild Pokémon. Wild Pokémon can be tamed in a mini-game sequence. Link compatibility is shown with bronze, silver, or gold medals (X means no link possible). Each character has a "Best Link Pokémon" for 100% linkage.
  4. 4
Evolution: Pokémon can evolve, and Evolutionary Stones function similarly to the main series. Characters can also change appearance based on their Link percentage with their Pokémon partner. The protagonist has three forms based on strength, and warlords have two or three ranks.
  5. 5
Battle Mechanics: Pokémon elemental weaknesses and special abilities from the main series apply. Group attacks can hit allies and enemies. Stage gimmicks, treasures, and bonuses can influence battles.
  6. 6
Pokémon Energy: A Pokémon's performance is affected by its Energy level (willpower). Bright red-orange means best, dark blue means tired. Low energy can be restored by resting or eating ponigiri.
Tips
  • Focus on conquering castles to unite the country.
  • Utilize Warrior Skills strategically, as they can only be used once per battle.
  • Pay attention to Pokémon elemental types and their strengths/weaknesses.
  • Manage your Pokémon's Energy levels to ensure they perform optimally in battle.
  • Building strong Links with Pokémon can unlock new forms for characters and enhance their abilities.
