Understanding the Battle System

The battle system in Pokémon Conquest involves two main phases: unification and battle stages. In unification stages, players manage their territory on a map of Japan, with each character limited to one action per turn (one month). Up to six characters can be stationed in a castle. Battles occur on a 2D grid where up to six generals and their Pokémon fight. Characters can use 'Warrior Skills' once per battle to aid their Pokémon. Pokémon retain their elemental weaknesses and special abilities from the main series. A Pokémon's 'Energy' level, indicated by colored arrows, affects their performance and can be restored by resting or eating ponigiri. Characters can build compatibility ('Link') with Pokémon, which can evolve and change character appearance. Some Pokémon have a 'Best Link Pokémon' that allows for 100% linkage.
