Walkthrough
- 1Unification Phase: Manage your territory on a map of Japan. Each character has one action per turn (one month). A maximum of six characters can be stationed in a castle. You can manually control your protagonist and their castle, or let the AI handle other armies with simple commands.
- 2Battle Phase: Engage in turn-based battles to capture castles.
- 3Character & Pokémon Linking: Build compatibility with Pokémon by visiting towns or fighting wild Pokémon. Tame wild Pokémon in mini-games to gain new Links. Compatibility is shown with bronze, silver, or gold medals; an 'X' means no Link is possible. Each character has a 'Best Link Pokémon' for 100% linkage.
- 4Pokémon Evolution: Pokémon can evolve, and Evolutionary Stones function similarly to the main series.
- 5Conquer All Kingdoms: Continue this process until all seventeen countries are conquered and united, leading to the appearance of a mysterious legendary Pokémon.
