Quake IV Hangar Perimeter walkthrough: Learn how to defeat the Strogg Gunner and secure the Shotgun with Viper Squad.
Walkthrough
- 1Follow the trenches until you reach a fork. You will be attacked by a Berserker.
- 2Up to five Strogg Marines will attack from the right. Use cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) behind crates and snipe them with your Machinegun, or explode nearby barrels.
- 3Continue along the path the Berserker came from.
- 4You will encounter two more Strogg Marines.
- 5Reach the red exit door to complete this section.
- 6Proceed through the next door into a tunnel with Morris.
- 7Prepare to face a new enemy: the Strogg GUNNER (a tall, heavily armored Strogg with a massive gun that functions as a nailgun and grenade launcher). Stay in cover near the door and take shots from there. Be ready to move if it throws a grenade.
- 8After defeating the Gunner, deal with its two supporting Strogg Marines.
- 9Run through the hallway until you meet two more Strogg Marines and a Berserker.
- 10Go through the door at the end of the hallway to meet Viper Squad.
- 11Corporal Mahler will give you his SHOTGUN.
- 12You will now travel with three members of Viper Squad, including a Medic and a Tech marine.
- 13Take the Viper Squad's reserves: a SMALL ARMOR VEST, two MACHINEGUNS, a CLIP, and three boxes of SHELLS for your Shotgun.
- 14Ready your Machinegun and go through the doors into a new area.
- 15A Gunner will appear ahead; snipe it with your Machinegun.
- 16Face about six Strogg Marines; your teammates will help defeat them quickly.
- 17Walk around the area and up some steps to find a door.
Tips
- The Strogg Gunner is tough and can launch grenades. It telegraphs grenade launches by pumping its gun first. If you get too close, it can punch you. Strong weapons are advised, but the Machinegun can work.
- The Shotgun has a clip size of 8 (upgradeable to 10 with the Extended Clip Mod (a community-made modification that changes the game) found in "Operation: Last Hope"), max ammo of 50, and is powerful at close range. It has a slow rate of fire and reload speed.
- The Viper Squad members can keep you at full health and armor as long as they are alive. Protect them to practice escorting skills.
