Alright, so you're in the control room and need to find the engineer. First things first, let's grab some goodies. Loot the control room to snag Strauss's MACHINEGUN, a CLIP, SHELLS, NAILS, and a LARGE HEALTH PACK. Once you're geared up, head back out and take the left door to rejoin your squad. If you're feeling a bit cheeky, you can swipe the SHOTGUN from them, but let's focus on the mission.
After Strauss gets the next door open, you'll rush into a room with Singer and Rodriguez. About seven Strogg Marines are waiting for you here. Don't bother with the Nailgun; your Machinegun will do just fine against these weaklings. Make your way to the far end of this room – careful not to fall into the pit! You'll see a panel labeled with some alien script, probably Stroggese. Interact with it to call the lift, and then ride it down.
In the room below, you'll find three SMALL HEALTH PACKS and an ARMOR SHARD. There are a couple of locked doors here too. Strauss will handle the left one, so follow your squad through. Your job now is to open the big blast door in this area. The panel to do this is somewhere around the room. Once it's open, be ready to fight a Grunt and two more Strogg Marines. You'll find another blast door in the next section. Head to the right side of this room to find the panel to open it, plus a LARGE HEALTH PACK and four ARMOR SHARDS.
With the final blast door out of the way, you're about to meet Tech Marine Newberry, the engineer you're looking for. His truck will take out a few Strogg Marines before he and Sergeant Shaw emerge. You'll still need to take down about ten more enemies with the help of your squadmates. You can find two SMALL HEALTH PACKS near the truck and two CLIPS by a door on the right side of this tunnel. When you're all set, approach Newberry to kick off the next part of the mission.
