Complete walkthrough for The Valley's Harmony in Rue Valley, covering character personality, intentions, and key events to progress through the game's initial loops.
Walkthrough
- 1Character Creation: Allocate 9 personality points. Different traits affect dialogue and can unlock or block 'Checks' (e.g., persuasion).
- 2Waking Up: Hold the button to wake up. Talk to Dr. Finck; dialogue choices don't matter initially.
- 3Motel Reception: Go left to the motel. Talk to Robin, the receptionist. Passing a Social Check (requires Extraverted +1) is possible. Dialogue choices don't matter. Obtain your room key card.
- 4Hotel Room: Go upstairs to your room. Interact with the suitcase (may affect seating). Time passes, leading to a phone call (accept/reject doesn't matter).
- 5Memories & Dream: Review your 'memories' by clicking icons. A significant dream sequence follows; pay attention to its details.
- 6Transformer Incident: After the dream, an icon appears. You cannot 'Hold to Recall' yet. Exit the room; witness a truck hitting a transformer.
- 7Tap Out! Achievement: Go to your room's bathroom and drink from the tap to unlock this achievement.
- 8Vending Machine: Go downstairs and interact with the vending machine. Press the 'reddish button' for water and drink it to lose the 'Thirsty' status.
- 9Loop Restart: The sky turns red, explosions occur. You wake up in Dr. Finck's office. He gives you a Purple Pill.
- 10Second Loop: Repeat getting the key card and going to your room. Attempt to put the suitcase away (fails). Take the purple pill (optional). Sit on the chair to pass time. Receive the same phone call.
- 11First Intention: Pass time until you review memories. You'll get your first 'Intention'. You cannot commit due to lack of Willpower. Take the pill, sleep, and lose 'Anxious Apprehension'. Gain 1 Inspiration (same as Willpower).
- 12Commit to Intention: Commit to the 'Memory or Fantasy?' Intention. Go outside and investigate the damaged transformer.
- 13Intention Completion: Select all dialogue options to complete the Intention. The sky turns red again, ending the loop.
- 14Post-Loop Actions: Talk to Dr. Finck, open memories, select the Intention, and 'Hold to Wrap Up' to gain 1 Inspiration.
- 15Leaving Intentions: Outside Dr. Finck's office, an Intention to leave home unlocks. Commit to it, interact with your car, but you'll end up back in his office.
- 16Decisional Check: Attempting to leave again triggers a Decisional Check. If Calculated +1, you regain control; otherwise, you lose control. Gain 2 Inspiration. Fail the intention, unlock 'The Escape Failed Successfully' achievement.
- 17Giving Up: Select the Intention again and 'Hold to Give up'.
- 18Free Roaming & Vending Machine Fix: Talk to the woman hitting the vending machine. Gain the 'Fix Vending Machine' Intention. Commit to it. Talk to her again, select 'Maybe I can help?', attempt to fix it (fail), then 'give up'.
- 19Receptionist's Help: Go to reception and speak to Robin. Select the vending machine Intention dialogue option. She'll tell you how to fix it.
- 20Riley's Coffee & Memories: If the clock is 8:07 or less, give Riley a coffee to complete the Intention and earn 3 Inspiration. Learn her name is Riley. Gain memories: Robin's updated, Ben Fleming (Robin's father), and Coral Destiny. Update Rocket Launch memory.
- 21Second Floor Interaction: Go to the second floor and interact with the door left of yours to gain the The Stocky Man Memory.
- 22Talking to Robin: Speak to Robin about the time loop and Ben Fleming. The 'Stocky Man' (Jason Burns) arrives at 8:12. Hear their conversation. Learn Jason Burns' name and backstory from Robin.
- 23Driving South - Max Gas: Drive south to Max Gas. Interact with the camera to the left of the store to unlock the Reality Show Intention.
- 24Max Gas Interactions: Enter Max Gas. Talk to Max (or Riley if present). Listening to them updates/creates memories: 'Careless Driver', 'Max Gas Lady', 'Where's Walter?'.
- 25Maxine Kay: Talking to Max alone updates her memory to Maxine Kay. Asking about Jason Burns updates Maxine's and Jason Burns' memories.
- 26Kitty Poster: Interact with the Kitty Poster for 1 Inspiration.
- 27Advancing Intentions: Select Time Loop and Reality TV dialogue options.
- 28Walter Kay: Use your phone to ask police about Walter Kay (limited immediate effect).
- 29Restarting Loop: Use your phone to pass time and restart the loop. You need 5 Willpower/Inspiration to recall the dream icon.
- 30Next Loop - Dr. Finck: Ask Dr. Finck about Coral Destiny and options related to the Reality Show Intention.
- 31Next Loop - Riley: Give Riley coffee again. Ask her about Coral Destiny (updates her memory) and the Reality Show Intention.
