Lhant Hill: Chapter Childhood

Hey there! Ready to jump into the world of Tales of Graces f Remastered? We're starting off in Lhant Hill during Asbel's childhood, and this area is all about getting you comfortable with the game's combat and exploration. Don't worry, it's pretty straightforward, but I'll walk you through everything you need to know.

Battle Tutorial

First things first, let's talk about fighting! When a battle kicks off, you'll automatically be locked onto an enemy. If you need to switch targets, just hold down the R1 button and flick the Left Analog Stick left or right. To swing your weapon, you'll press the Circle button. Now, here's a neat trick: the direction you're holding on the Left Analog Stick while you attack actually changes your moves! For instance, holding Up or Down while attacking will make Asbel unleash a cool three-hit combo using his special skills, called Artes.

Every time you use an Art or perform an action, you'll notice your Chain Capacity, or CC, goes down. You can see these numbers right below your character's portrait at the bottom of the screen. If your CC hits zero, you won't be able to deal any damage. The good news is that if you just stand still for a moment, your CC will start to refill pretty quickly. This area also has tutorials that'll teach you about guarding and evading.

To guard an incoming attack, just hold down the Square button. It won't completely block the damage, but it'll definitely reduce it, which is super helpful.

Evading Attacks

The other way to avoid taking hits is by evading. It's a little more involved than guarding, but still easy enough once you get the hang of it. Start by holding the Square button to guard, and then quickly flick the Left Stick in any direction. Keep in mind, you'll need to have your battle style set to either Semi-Auto or Manual for this to work. If you're on Auto, your character won't be able to pull off an evade.

Exploring Lhant Hill

After you've gotten the hang of combat, keep moving forward until you reach a small waterfall. Here, you'll get to experience your first Skit! Keep an eye on the lower-left corner of your screen for the skit prompt – they pop up pretty often and are a great way to learn more about the characters and story.

From the waterfall, head east at the fork in the path. You'll find a treasure chest tucked away behind a tree. Open it up to get a Glassphere.

Next, head north. You'll find your first save point here. Right across from it, there's another treasure chest waiting for you – this one holds a Life Bottle. After that, you'll see some cutscenes. Once they're done, head back to the save point; another skit, Rebel Without a Cause, will trigger. After that, you're all done with this part of Lhant Hill, so you can head out towards North Lhant Hill.

North Lhant Road

The game might nudge you to head back to Lhant town right about now, but hang on a sec! Before you do, let's explore a bit more. Instead of going straight to town, head west past the guards. You'll see a sparkling spot on the ground. These spots are totally random – both in where they appear and what you find inside – but it's always worth checking them out. You might snag some rare items, especially as you get further into the game!

Keep heading northwest from there, and you'll find another treasure chest containing a Glassphere. Then, make your way east to the save point. A skit called Seek the Sparkles! will pop up there. Once that's done, you can finally head south to reach Lhant.
