Your Sims can learn a ton of new skills and even pick up some unique recipes just by hitting the books (or the sheet music!). We'll break down all the different types of books and music you can buy, what they're for, and most importantly, how much they'll set your Sim back in Simoleons.

Let's get started by looking at the various categories available:

Normal Books

These books cover a wide range of genres, from Autobiography and Fantasy to Sci-Fi and Drama. Reading them can help your Sim develop skills, pass the time, or even unlock new opportunities. Keep an eye on the genre – sometimes it gives a hint about what your Sim might learn!

Recipe Books

Want to whip up some gourmet meals in the game? Recipe books are your best friend! Each one teaches your Sim a new dish, from simple Cookies to the complex Ambrosia. These are essential for any Sim aspiring to be a great cook.

Sheet Music

For the musically inclined Sims, sheet music is the way to go. These books allow your Sim to learn new songs and improve their Guitar, Piano, or Violin skills. You'll need to reach a certain skill level before you can even buy some of them, so plan ahead!

Skill Books

These are probably the most important books for progression. Skill books directly teach your Sims skills like Logic, Cooking, Handiness, Charisma, and Gardening. They come in volumes, and you'll need to buy the earlier volumes before you can progress to the later ones. Investing in these early can make a huge difference in your Sim's life!
