The Mindflayer is one of ULTRAKILL's most disruptive and dangerous enemies, capable of turning your own momentum against you with its psychic abilities. Its primary threat comes from its ability to create psychic clones of itself and to unleash a devastating psychic blast that can stun and disorient V1. Facing a Mindflayer requires a shift in tactics, prioritizing evasion and precise counter-attacks.

The Mindflayer's most iconic ability is its psychic clone generation. These clones, while weaker, can still deal damage and, more importantly, distract you. The key to dealing with them is to identify the real Mindflayer. The real Mindflayer will always have a distinct visual aura or particle effect that its clones lack. Focusing your fire on the real Mindflayer is crucial, as killing the clones does not significantly damage the original.

The Mindflayer's psychic blast is a devastating area-of-effect attack that can leave you stunned and vulnerable to other enemies. To avoid this, always be moving. The moment you see the Mindflayer begin to charge this attack (indicated by a visual cue and a distinct sound), immediately dash or slide away from its radius. If you are caught in the blast, try to mash the movement keys to recover as quickly as possible.

When it comes to offense, the Mindflayer is susceptible to sustained damage, particularly from weapons that can deal with multiple targets or have high burst damage. The Rocket Launcher is excellent for dealing significant damage to the Mindflayer and its clones. The Railgun, when charged, can also be effective at quickly dispatching the real Mindflayer if you can land a critical hit. The Shotgun's alternate fire, Freeze Frame, can be used to briefly halt the Mindflayer and its clones, giving you a window to reposition or unload damage.

Consider using the environment to your advantage. If there are cover points, use them to break line of sight and avoid the psychic blast. However, be aware that the Mindflayer can sometimes project its attacks through cover. Prioritize eliminating the Mindflayer quickly to prevent it from overwhelming you with its psychic abilities and clones.
