Memory 02: 02 Common Enemy

Chase and Confront the Overseer: As soon as you get control of Adé, you'll need to be quick! There's a runaway slave and an overseer. You absolutely *must* chase them down immediately. If you're too slow, the overseer will catch and kill the slave before you can intervene, and you'll have to restart this part. Get close to the overseer, pull out your machete, and press the combat button to perform a swift takedown from behind. This is your first taste of machete combat – it's slower than the swords, but hits harder. Just be aware that enemies can take a few hits to go down. The rescued slave will then give you some crucial information and join the resistance.

Locate the Informant: Your next task is to find a 'gentleman,' which is basically just a guy who knows where you need to go. As you head towards his location, keep an eye out for jailers. They're marked on your map with a red arrow and have a visible yellow field of vision. If they spot you, they'll raise the alarm and potentially mess up your mission. Your best bet is to stay out of their sight, or take them out quickly and quietly if you're spotted.

Track the Informant: Approach the green circle on your map and activate Eagle Vision. The informant will be highlighted in gold, standing near a group of people auctioning slaves in the northeast corner. Be careful not to get too close; if he spots you, he'll get alerted. Once you've tagged him, you'll need to tail him to the brothel. He'll start walking north, so follow him from a distance. When he approaches an oncoming convoy, duck behind the set of stairs until they pass. Then, climb the wall and hide in the bushes until the convoy is clear. Emerge and continue following him, but also watch out for a jailer who might be approaching from behind. There are plenty of bushes along the way, so use them to hide if you need to.

Eavesdrop and Conclude: Wait for the informant to cross the bridge by the waterfall, then follow him across. He'll enter a building – the brothel. Follow him inside. Now, you need to eavesdrop on a conversation involving someone named Bastienne. Head to the corner next to the bar and by the stairs. The targets will move downstairs and then circle the room. To stay hidden, blend in with the crowds of people as you move around the circle to keep them in sight. You need to stay within the green ring on your screen, or you'll fail the mission. Once the conversation is over, find and talk to Bastienne to complete the mission.
